Sonic, The majority of the time I stayed at the Double Tree. Not exactly close as it is a few miles away but a straight shot to get there. Typical prices $80 - $110 depending on time of the year. Preferred the convenience of having a full restaurant on site. I typically used Priceline or Hotels.com (which ever one was offering a better donation to my favorite charity at the time through Goby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
One final thought. If you all want to do is learn the basics then Survivor Class 1 should suffice. If you work with that information long enough, accept you do not know it all by simply taking Class 1, continue to study your charts and the relationship between timeframes, then eventually you will learn things that are taught in the other classes. The only reason to take the other classes is toby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Seeker, The only thing I can suggest is to be patient. I know they were a bit slow to respond regarding a question I had about Class 3 in November. Given holidays are around the corner and family is their first priority it might take a bit longer. Generally they respond within 24 to 48 hours throughout the year. Anytime It took me some time to figure out what is best for me. Last caveat is that I only provided one view from a pure numbers perspective. I did not touch on appropriate stock selection or your chart analysis. The chart should also be considered when determining strike selection. Finally, ask yourself if you want to put a significant amount of your capital into a very volatile pharmaceutby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I hate leaving things undone. Next time I will stick to a verbal explanation. I appreciate the feedback trendtrader. Below is an update. This time I used a slightly more realistic example. Deep ITM calls will generally have less extrinsic value. I say generally because I am oversimplifying option models and not considering potential upcoming binary events. Again, I am not suggesting whichby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Agreed. At one point I strictly sold the stock and moved on but have been trying to sell the calls and get comfortable with the process. An effort in teaching myself to be patient.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Yes, my numbers are off and double counting but I have not had a chance to go back and update. I knew someone would call me out. That's what I get for cutting back on caffeine and trying to post while doing other things. My apologies to the forum. Next time I will leave out the visual and get straight to the point :-) If you sell OTM and the stock drops back to your entry then you still haveby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I hate being vague but I am also very hesitant on answering as I do not want to imply what is the best course of action to take. I had to make mistakes along the way before I figured out what was best for me regardless of what may or may not have been provided in the discussions. I originally posted two examples and took them down. I will put them back up but please understand this is for examby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
What helped me was doing the math on a few examples and then deciding what would be best given various possible outcomes.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I agree! Very open and responsive to feedback. Even things I would have been willing to live with for a period of time have been updated in the new release.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I am sure others might trade during holiday shortened weeks but I am a bit skeptical due to very thin volume. If I have a signal and a trade appears to be jumping off the screen screaming "trade me" then I will but will be looking for any potential reason to exit. I have been slapped around a few times over the years trading around holidays where I had a signal during a thinly tradedby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Michael, Thank you for the quick response. I signed back in to formally retract my last post. My opinion was based on trying to locate the first few symbols which seemed to take quite a bit of time. Once I got on a roll I discovered that quite a few are the same or similar variation of what we are used to seeing. Hope you don't mind me posting a quick screen shot for those interested. To expand on what fireman said about the symbols the downloadable files to find your ticker symbols are a combined 50K rows long. I had to put into Excel so that I could easily search and find what I needed and still have a long way to go. Some sub indexes are the same but some are much different. Michael I think you will find that these threads seem to never die. I slated this week to, for lack of a better description, play around and get used to the new system after I finish my nightly work. I concur with the others and definitely like what I have seen to date. Everything is rather intuitive out of the box. Dan, et al. I had a couple people respond via PM in addition to Dan's suggestions above. I want to thank each of you for the suggestions and feedback. I think everyone is in agreement that there are alternatives given that I have a somewhat custom built PC that affords me the opportunity to upgrade the video cards. If I were using a laptop then Plugable might be a good solution. Still deciby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
P.S. As an aside GW mentioned weekend before last in the last Survivor III that Alchem is not ready and he has communicated same to the developer. That said he did not elaborate as to why he felt it was not ready. I have some thoughts but nothing concrete. He told the folks that Alchem was currently being tested by a small group and is not ready regardless of what we might think or have heardby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Not the best person to provide feedback as I still use TS but currently testing Alchem just to see. If I had not spent so much time learning and getting comfortable with TS I would definitely make the switch. Pros and cons with both but there are certain things I like and use in TS that can't be done in Alchem. Alchem comes configured to trade Gary's way out of the box. Question for any of the more technical minded folks out there. First question is whether or not anyone is familiar with Plugable and their available options?. I am currently running 4 monitors via video cards on a I7 quad w/16GB RAM (a lot of data mining for work). If I decide to expand the number of monitors would I be able to use a Plugable hub solution via USB for the additional monitors? Iby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Class 3 retake is in the books so here are my thoughts. It was definitely worth taking again. I had a few people ask and the analogy I used was that taking any newly released Survivor class is like buying a newly designed model car (which I have done twice in my life). There are always a few hiccups along the way. For me the information was presented better this time around and had a more logiby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Rookie, You are too funny! LOL.. Good trade on AAPL. Regarding your question about popping the second trade I think it is personal choice but also a good idea to leave yourself the option of being able to do the second trade IMHO. Everyone might see it a bit different. Once I tell you what I do there will be people familiar with the new class format that could tell you that I am not doingby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Lukhy911, you may send an email to the following address for more information: wsbrandic@gmail.com. Tell them you are interested in knowing more about the Survivor series. The classes are taught in Northeastern NC (Rocky Mount).by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Traildoc, I have taken everything he provided before: 1-5, Advanced, RTP, and DE. I have also taken Survivor 1-3 and the new RTP. I think everyone will have a slightly different perspective but here is mine. I would guestimate that he discarded roughly 20% to 25% of the old information that used to be taught in 1-5. Welcome Hiway1! I studied DiNapoli early on and found some benefit by looking at confluence levels. I still use common retracement and extension projections. I do not think of it in terms of DiNapoli but that's how I got started looking at overlapping areas of support and resistance. Interested to hear how his system has worked out for you and what you find beneficial. NCTby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Rookie, nice trade! Stacees, obviously I cannot speak to Rookie's reason for staying but I too am in AAPL and have been since 10/21. I took a decent position in my IRA immediately following earnings (around 102). The reasons I stayed are as follows: 1.) Look at weekly chart during that time (11/5 - 11/10). Next bigger charts always provides clues. Riding the bands up and MACD wideningby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Yep, you are correct. All things held equal puts will have a higher premium factored in than calls due to the option pricing models. The market falls faster than it rises so there is a bit of higher risk premium built into the puts. Why GW decided to change the amount of time or why puts are the same as calls I do not know. My guess is that we use to use an action chart with the goal being thby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Darcy, I cannot fully speak for CLT1987 as I do not know him/her but can offer a possible answer. GW started suggesting buying a lot of time sometime between 2006 - 2008. Also strongly encourages a particular minimum. That is all he teaches today. All of this to prevent Rambo time decay and to give you time to stay in the trade if it starts to run. I had the same thought earlier today mtut but I believe the purpose of this exercise is to see if one can blindly use the RTT suggestions. In hindsight most of the patterns look good on paper and a good portion seem to win but the history alone does not take into account pricing, slippage, and the trader. I am probably the last to know as I have only used TS for charting but 9.5 gave us a much needed enhancement. For those like me that didn't know OptionStation Pro now tracks all open positions. You no longer have to navigate from OS to Trade Manager to see open positions or type in the underlying symbol to check on one position at a time. We now have a nice little window that displays all openby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Sorry about that. ES = S&P E-mini futures. I forgot the code for Qcharts but @ES is used on other platforms including TS. I like to keep an eye on it as the Daily/233/144 occasionally provide clues regarding the turn and direction. TradeStation automatically configures futures for "All Sessions".
