Wow!!! Thanks Darcy for posting. There's a lot to unpack here. Thanks for sharing with us. Yes I have the BB. Is the same color as the 20MA on the image I posted. It also has Christmas Cross on the image.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Just trying to understand your thought process a bit better. ThinkorSwim allows you to go back and time and replay a trade, so I was able to jump back in time and look at Roku at 10:47am. I looked at Roku at 10:47 and here is what my 8 min chart looked like. It shows me that 200 (light grey) is just below the 50 (orange line) and the 20 (blue line). The 50 crossed above the 200 a coupleby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Thanks Darcy for posting this. It's very insightful. Definitely some food for thought. For myself I trade the 223 and Daily charts. I'll look at the 55 to see if there's a better entry that might show up later in the day instead of jumping right in at the open just because I had entry at the end of the previous day.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hey Darcy, You mean like the 20 and 50 on the daily? Apologies if the question seems dumb. I'm not as well versed in reading the MA as you are.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
LOL PastorP - that's probably a better problem than I'm facing right now. I tend to stay in a trade to long it seems. I've had lots of times where a large gain turns into a small loss. Most all of the trades I enter start off very well with good movement in my direction. Then while I'm not paying attention it reverses on me with a $1000 gain turning into a $100 loss. All the while I'm couby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Have you looked at usethinksript.com? There are tons of coders and developers on that site. It's also dedicated to writing scripts and code in Think Script. There isn't many script writers and coders on this forum. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Have you had a chance to setup a duel boot yet? I'm curious if you were able to get ToS to run on Linux.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Thanks Darcy for posting these links. I'm always looking for things to read up on. It's always interesting to see the unique perspectives of some traders and how they use indicators and patterns.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hey Darcy, Do you have a link to the investopedia page you are referring to? There's a lot on investopedia, so wanted to make sure I was on the right page. Seems like I remember some time back when you talked about 3 MA crosses, like the 5 and the 10 crossing the 20. Are still using that? Seems like I remember it being called the "E" trade. What other MA do you use lower thaby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hahaha.... That's funny. When AMZN spilt on the 6th I thought of you and assumed you would play it at some point. lol. Great trade!by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Linux is badass for sure. WAY better than anything Microsoft has ever put out. I used to have a Linux box years ago, but I never tried to run TOS on it. Honestly I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Get another HDD and setup your PC to dual boot. Then you can test it out. If it doesn't work then just blow away the Linux build and keep the HDD.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I could be wrong, but I'm not aware of that feature within TOS. I've used it in Alchem Charts, but I don't think it's part of TOS. On Demand might be your only option for that. Sorry. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Use the "On Demand" feature in TOS. You can pause the action and even set the exact time and moment to have all charts go back and replay the action.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Yep. I tried to exit my put trade position at the end of the day today but it didn't fill for me. Hopefully, there will be a gap down open and I can go ahead and exit. Currently I'm up just a touch over 100% on my trade.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
That's what I was thinking also. The old phrase, "sell in May and go away" comes to mind.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Yep there is plenty of that going on.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
LOL, Just the last two days has been hella bumpy. Last night I just excepted that I would be leaving the trade today with a loss. However, today was just crazy. I went from being at a $532 loss to a $200 gain. The market is just wild. One things for sure. The bulls and bears have really duked it out the last two days. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Once again... it sucks to be me. Apparently I choose the worst day ever to buy puts. Oh well.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I sure hope so so. I just got in a PUT trade earlier this morning. Hehehe....by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hopefully, prayerfully...... The new online format of the "Modules" will be more focused. Maybe it will be much more concise and to the point without all the wasting time telling long-winded stories about things that have nothing to do with trading, just to make a 10 second point about something he mentioned 25 minutes earlier. I think if I have to hear one more story about TFT, orby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
ncptech Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Gary uses Alchem charts now. Alchem is is much > better than Qcharts. Yes, Alchem Charts have been better than Qcharts from the beginning, but GW kept saying he was gonna stay on Qcharts until it quits. lol. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I think GW is still using Qcharts right? I don't recall their being a 4pm candle, just a 9:30, and 1:23pm candle. Also TOS is not delayed if you fund it. You only need to fund it with 50 bucks or something to get the real time stuff flowing. Seems like I even heard of someone doing it with 20 bucks. And you never have to trade in that account. Just set it up and fund it with a few bucks aby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hahahaha.... "blow off the froth". That's so funny and true. It's gonna be bumpy for a while, you are right again. Getting whipsawed is a real thing too. Many don't believe it until they see it for themselves.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
GW used to recommend the 21 min chart for plays off of the daily. Also that 20ma is pretty strong. You could use a smaller moving average, but you'll get whipsawed a lot more. Getting whipsawed is pretty common in this market right now. Has been for a while now.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Honestly, I'm just really enjoying the volatility. It just gives me more opportunities really. I get to be more selective.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Boy O Boy!!!! This market is just wild and crazy right now. Has been for several days. Things are just VERY volatile right now. Keep your head on a swivel for sure. I wasn't thrilled about the Fed rate hike, but we all knew it was coming..... eventually. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Isn't is so funny how the market was declining steadily and the financial media talking heads kept saying it was due to the fears of war in the Ukraine. Then when it finally happens and the market puts in a massive up move yesterday. Looking at the TQQQ and the Nasdaq on the open yesterday. It gaps down on the open and turns up instantly. It never looked back and just kept a strong and steaby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Yep I remember GW shouting that in class. I also remember he had us track the news and do paper trades on the news just to us to NOT trade the news. lol. Peaks and Slams plays were also "News Plays" if I recall correctly. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
It appears we view things very similarly. Which is a good thing I think. The little pop up that's been happening is a nice change of pace for me. I don't think the down is over though. I get the sense that some traders are beginning to get a bit "euphoric" once again in thinking that the market is gonna keep going up.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Awesome trade Darcy. Do you always buy options in the money? There was a time when I used to purchase out of the money options. Just like GW says though. If you buy out the money options the first move in the stocks price won't show up in your options price. Especially if you buy something like 2 or 3 strikes out of the money. Do you find that to be true also? Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
