Added clouds and a couple MAs to VibrateSum of SUGAR_AMP_SUM. Also added Volume weighting. Have traded it and done well so far. Of note: immediately after cloud switch in color, first few bars go according to color (magenta for DOWN, light pink for UP). After those first few bars, price may go against that color but overall will move with that color by time the cloud ends.by baffled1 - Trading Discussion
It's best to find a system that works and stick to it. But I keep an eye out for something better too. And that's what this thread is about- crazy stuff that might work better. Long post but I want to explain my thinking and "theory". And I do welcome input on this and tinkering by anybody. I've long been curious about the effect of market shocks on later price, and what causes majorby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

How to use GOLDMEAN'S 1-bar forecast. If you read the previous post earlier, I hadn't mention the forecast aspect (added it later). It's only useful, in my opinion, if you're almost at the close of the current bar AND the current bar has touched or penetrated a ribbon for the first time. So the next bar is very likely to also touch or penetrate the ribbon. So the forecasting plot tells you aboutby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
I probably won't offer my further insights on the Evil Algo unless somebody loads it and starts contributing. I've used it a lot with good success. But, I was getting stuck in a trade too long and too often, so I developed GOLDMEAN after somebody asked about it on a forum. It also works well and I don't get stuck in a trade nearly as often (I combine it with my SUGAR algo). GOLDMEAN "looks lby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Here's a snap of what it looks like. First thing you notice is how price hits a boundary only once then almost always returns to the other boundary. Second thing, not so obvious, is that the boundaries are NOT 'pinching' as they appear to be- it's an optical illusion; the vertical space between them is constant. Problems with this algo are: 1. It's a shape-shifter. The boundaries ("ribboby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
So to begin. The Evil Algo saga began about here http://www.researchtrade.com/forum/read.php?7,2258,5439#msg-5439 after a post by optiontrader101 here http://www.researchtrade.com/forum/read.php?7,2258,5397#msg-5397 . Since then, I refined it to this: input price = close; input length = -10; def displacement = (length / 2) + 1; def dPrice = price; def tmp = if !IsNaN(dPrice) then Aby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
I got a note from linter about the same time I was thinking to start a thread like this and linter was suggesting something similar, but focused only on the Evil Algo, an algo which came up in Robert's Fun with ThinkScript thread. Thing is, I didn't feel comfortable carrying on a discussion in Robert's thread about the Evil Algo and some other crazy ideas of mine because his thread is more focuseby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

I try not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. So even though my last post hasn't yielded anything spectacular for me, I noticed that the midline at least defined an upper limit. So I went to work finding the lower limit. Not recommending anybody else try trading this but what I'll probably do next week is look for when price makes a break above or below the cloud, then try to book my tradeby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

Robert, I have to thank you again for the Robert's Averaging algo. It is serving me well. I can trade it standalone with my TriplePoint algo (the one you helped me with), and I also use it to help guide me when using the Evil Algo . And maybe even more importantly, it gives me a template for other Averaging operations. You da man!!by baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Well, I got ambitious. Made a Daily trade with the Evil Algo (see http://www.researchtrade.com/forum/read.php?7,2258,5399#msg-5399 ). Entered short last Thursday about 5pm ET. Early Friday offered me a 60-pip EURUSD gain. But I had an 80-p target so I sneered at it. Burned, had to upload funds to cover. Still in. Drop coming. Figured out why I should've taken the 60p offered- has to do with Widthby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
First, thanks to optiontrader101 for the algo previous page. I love it. Second, thanks to mtut for warning, as this helped me refine the strategy. optiontrader101, I was waiting for one of the real experts here to reply. But here's my 2 cents. 1. Your issue with this algo is it keeps re-painting. I only see it doing that at the current bar, which it should, right? So I'm not sure what you mean. To me, this is a good algo. Kudos to you for finding it. All I want it to do is show me when price breaks into a boundary, because that tells me iby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Thanks, Tampman. I hope Howo3579 doesn't mind me tinkering. Howo3579, your suggestion for sifting datapoints has worried me ever since. Maybe I was wrong and you're right- sifting is prudent. Guess I was just being lazy. And still am. So I've begun that analysis. More later- and thanks.by baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Tampman and Howo3579, your Ctotal prints advanced 1 period on Hourly and 2-Hourly, but not advanced on 4-Hourly. But I don't see any switches to explain that, ie, [-X] values in code. So what am I missing? Also, I ran a variation to retard "cover" signal as follows: Original is: "def cover = if triggerdown then 0 else if C < 2 then cover[1] else 1;" Mod is: def coverby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
