Synthetic Trendlines If your head has a tendency to turn red and explode, you might want to skip this thread... Comments welcome. If you're wondering what this has to do with Thinkscript, please stay tuned- I'm planning to try to code some of it and maybe others will too. brazilianpillar , if you're asking how to use the scanner I can help. Otherwise not. For using the scanner I notice if I scan for ALL STOCKS the scanner chokes on a TIMEOUT error. I figure that's because of the complexity of your code, size of selected market (I first chose ALL STOCKS), bar range for signal occurence (I first chose 1 bar), and price range. I finally got some results (65) with theby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

I'm learning much from these posts, thanks to all. NCT's above critique of the "I got my 5%" mentality strikes home, as I'm a compounder and when I hit my daily target I leave the table. Of course, that's not the same as a "per trade" target. Still, makes me think. Anyway, here's my two cents on the original question, "So the question remains - can we quantify an edge andby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

IMPROVEMENT SUGGESTIONS REQUESTED. Code is below chart image. I got to wondering how much price deviates from a given MA. I tested it on EURUSD H1 and /es 10min and results aren't the Holy Grail but pretty darn good, imo. Top and bottom plots ("dev1top" and "dev1bot" are maximum deviations above/below an MA. "dev1" and "dev2" are identical plots (shown as tby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Tampman, I tried your 1,5 settings on eurusdH1 and got more sigs but not good. Maybe only works on your timeframes? I "assume" you meant for me to change code itself, not use the default input from chart screen for "wiggle room"? There's only one "wiggle room" input is what I mean. So I changed code as follows: plot FatPitchUp = crossingUpSum == 1; plot HomeRunFby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

Tampman, I didn't bother posting image of the lower study, which is just opaque bars. The left image is from editing study from chart page with right-click on the plot. Is this what you wanted to see?by baffled1 - Trading Discussion

Okay, right-click on the study, EDIT STUDY, and for each plot under Draw As, the third choice in the dropdown looks to me like the silhouette of a submarine or something-- choose that and your vertical bars will render as transparent. If that's not enough contrast for you (lloks good to me), in addition you can change the bars' colors to paler shades. Glad it worked out. A lot of people don't eveby baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Not sure what you mean but I just ran it by right-click the flattened study, then USE LEFT AXIS, and I only get tall vertical bars the full height of chart, which in fact are pretty good indicators. Hope this helps.by baffled1 - Trading Discussion
Comments on the above post are welcome. I've considered that the code might merely be re-stating the obvious, as already apparent in the direction of Price itself, ie, it might be a lagging or at best a lockstep indicator. But unlike an HLC average, the primary plot is made from discrete bars- not an average. And, on the micro level, behavioral change (flattening or opposing) from one bar to theby baffled1 - Trading Discussion

So far, so good. All I can add so far is that bottom study very often exhibits some critical crosses. as at 10/22 8:51, 9:06, 9:45, 12:18, etc. and these often confirm your sweet spots, like 12:21, and 10/23 at 11:15. If I traded it, I think I'd just code some arrows for those crosses to make it easier on my eyeballs. But like I say, your other parameters look great to me. linter, I just sent you a PM (please read) and read yours. Will load and look. Your rules above took care of what I was going to say here- that all oscillators have an annoying habit of only being good on the first few bars after a signal. You seem to have (largely) cured that with the rules. So okay, going to load it up... back in a bit.by baffled1 - Trading Discussion
