Just playing and thought I would through this out for any TS user(s) interested in using arrows. As you may know in order to use arrows in TS you need to have some programming background and understand object oriented programming. If that is not you but you want a way to add arrows then take a look at the tutorial link below. This is a workaround using windings. Played around with this a fewby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Thanks Darcy! The last chart showing entry is how I visualized what I should be looking for (in conjunction with FP/HRFP and everything else we know).by NCTrader - Trading Discussion

I thought I had read all your posts regarding the "E" Chart but had a thought today and do not recall this being answered. Since you introduced the concept and have the most experience applying the concept I thought I would ask in the open forum in case anyone else wants to know. When you use the "E" do you need a recent, new "E" in your direction" I am curioby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
LOL.. I forgot the forum converts the last parenthesis to a smiley face even though you use "insert code". Oh well..by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Sorry I was late in responding. Glad Dan was able to help you out. There are two or three threads in this forum containing the code for TS StochRSI. All were very close to QC visually but did not completely match QC with respect to the actual values (i.e, 62.13 might show as 62.04). Again they visually looked the same and provided the same signals but it would be enough to frustrate the enginby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Obviously it did cover the spread in Darcy's example. I guess it depends on your style of trading. If you are an in and out / quick hit it and quit it type then BIIB may not be the best play as it takes some movement to cover the spread. Earnings volatility helps. A 2 to 5 day swing trader can expect moves of $10 to $20 or more that should more than cover. I have very little experience withby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Darcy, I am in your camp on this one. This summer definitely feels different. It is like the market wants to pull back but it can't - each dip is bought aggressively. I am curious to see what catalyst is used to explain the pullback when it arrives. S&P futures are back at the top of the range so this afternoon could be interesting.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
GW still using Qcharts but will be migrating to Alchemcharts when available. You can search Alchemcharts in this forum for details or Google their website. This thread intended to help those that use TOS and do not want to pay for QC.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Chunk, yes, I still love TS and continue to learn daily. I wish I had made the change a few years ago when I was doing a lot of earnings research (prior to RTT). TS Easy Language also provides access to historical fundamentals as well as any canned or customized TA study. I did not think I would ever say this but I am also starting to dig TOS. TS kicks butt with charting, scanning, and commby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
The more I play around with setting up TOS as a backup the more I discover it can do. I still prefer TS charting, history, screening, and development environment but TOS has a lot of great features. Are there any TOS power users out there that still use Briefing.com? If so why? I have my Briefing account from years ago and keep it due to the fact that the cost would more than double if I leaby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
A quick question to see if anyone focuses on selling options, collecting theta, and using time decay to your advantage. I have very little experience in this area but have been testing strategies in my practice account. I can see why GW suggested that selling a naked put correctly is one of the safest trades out there. It is kind of like being in Vegas but having the house edge in your favor.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
My two to three cents worth... What helped me on bigger charts was simply pulling up a Weekly, Daily, and 233 covering roughly six months on stocks that move and study how each chart worked together. I spent quite a bit of time studying each candle, the indicators, and looked at all of the major moves. I did not get caught up in the noise of a day or two good move but focused instead on majorby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Appreciate the responses! I have a couple of accounts with TDA and was getting a bit excited that I a viable backup should I ever have problems with TS. Unfortunately the data issue is a bit concerning. First page of a Google search suggests there have been data issues with TOS this year (missing data). Appears to be intermittent, primarily focused on intraday around open and close so most iby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Question for all of the TOS experts out there. I am working on setting up TOS as a backup for TS and noted a data integrity issue. Look at the below chart for PXD Daily. The first blue arrow denotes trading day 2/28. The very next candle / blue arrow denotes 3/14. I am missing two weeks worth of data which explains the gap down. Tradestation is fine - no gap. Does TOS have known data issuesby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Yes, I do think the market is starting to get a bit weaker from a technical perspective and I am personally seeing some short term (a day, two or three) put positions paying off whereas I was having trouble with puts a few weeks back. The past few days the bulls have certainly stepped up midday to show that they have not given up. Price action on major indexes still making higher pivot highs andby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Thanks for sharing! I think a lot of us are watching the double top formation to see if it confirms what we already know – that the market has been overdone for a while and is primed for a pull back. That said the market is always right and has been climbing for weeks without any evidence to support the move. What’s the old adage “the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay sby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Thanks for the insight RR! Based on the information above, your previous posts with helping Dan set up TOS, and the information Robert has provided I think I can now successfully create my TOS workspace as a backup to TS. This has been on my list for quite some time but every time I get close to finishing I get so frustrated with TOS. I think I can use the one basic workspace Robert provided aby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Easy answer first... In TS the "Enter" key will allow you to tab down through your symbols when reviewing your basket. I used the "Space Bar" in QCharts. As for actual trading with TS I would suggest practicing entering/exiting using the platform until you have a comfort level. There are three fundamental tasks I had to work through: 1) Being able to find an optionby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
As I mentioned in the past I have been struggling a bit with entering and existing option trades in TS. I finally had a conversation with someone over the weekend that told me what I was doing wrong. Since then I have been practicing to make sure I can easily enter and exit at will - basics 101. Fast forward to Wednesday at 3:55PM I see that CELG 89/144 have turned over indicating a potential pby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
To preface my response I concur with Darcy and do not believe anyone can make the decision other than you. Most of the successful retail traders I have followed over the years all seem to agree that “more” is not necessarily better. The general consensus being that you have to learn to do this in your spare time and have some “proof of concept” in order to have the confidence required tby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I was perusing old archives and wanted to thank BCT for taking the time to post his observations and thoughts on big chart "E" trades. I have been struggling to figure out how someone was using "E" on larger time frames effectively as I studied the 3 MA crossover years ago. I kept running into roadblocks due to the time it would take for the MAs to get close enough togetherby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Sorry, didn't mean to leave Darcy out. I think we were posting around the same time :-)by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I concur with Robert, BCT, and TCB. I very much enjoy the posts from Rookie even though I am not a short chart trader. There are nuggets to be gained. If I were to give any advice to a novice I would reiterate sticking with the basics as taught, do the work, run the charts back, and learn how the timeframes you use work together. Once you know your pitch and have good basic fundamentals you cby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Last but certainly not least is the most important feature I wanted. Chart replay for practice. Not quite as easy as TOS but I never could figure out how to get TOS to replay more than a current day. Seemed to be good for intraday short chart traders. The solution for TS was built by someone in 2012 that trades futures. One person appeared to have a problem getting it to work with equities.by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
That was easy Final updates for what I wanted to accomplish almost complete. Setting up the chart to only show the last three signals was relatively painless and took about 5 minutes. Rewrote the code to make it easier to maintain going forward. Thanks Chunk! I see Doug post almost daily. Sometimes I think that is all he has time to do given all of the questions submitted. BTW I think have seen some of your code for each indicator. What I liked is the variations in how each was accomplished so it shows different ways to achieve the same goal. Mine is slightly different but accomplished the goal during testing. Oh my!! Yes, it is possible to write an indicator to show vertical line that corresponds with your RadarScreen trigger. Originally it provided way too many lines on a chart as you described but I found some code yesterday where you can reference trend lines and remove them at will. It should be possible to see the last "X" number of signals on a chart based on user preference. Thatby NCTrader - Trading Discussion
Love it. I am going down a similar path but first wanted a chart indicator that flags via vertical line that I was finally able to finish. Next will be adding to RS with a "bars ago" indication. Nice Job!by NCTrader - Trading Discussion
I concur with BCT. MAs have their purpose but if they keep you from getting into trades that work then try a test and remove. That said they have their purpose. You ask how does one know for sure the trade will work. You never will. Over time you get better at selecting trades that provide a higher probability of success. That comes with experience.
