Still hunting for the "black box". The time you waste dreaming up that "magical" indicator could have been better spent on learning to read the charts. The only "black box" that will EVER exist is YOU!!! YOU BECOME the "black box" by mastering chart reading! It's YOU, not some stupid computer program or a single "magical" indicator! Maybe he didn't have anything nice so say, so he followed the old rule your mom told you about. You know the one. If ya can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. Hehehe.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
My guess is he's referring to your E-chart. Other an that I don't understand either.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I'd practice trade for a while first. At least through the summer period before I started tossing around real money. And treat all of your practice trades EXACTLY like real money trades. That includes the entry, the exit, and the space in the middle of the trade. Practice, Practice, Practice, and study those charts. If you still have your manual it will have the parms and indicator stuff.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Hi, Many here are using TOS (ThinkOrSwim) because it is FREE, and you can get the same indicators that are needed on Qcharts. Qcharts is dying slowly, and even Gary says, that when it's dead he is going to move over to AlchemCharts. You can setup TOS to be exactly the same as Qcharts, or AlchemCharts. Did I mention it was FREE! If you decide to fund your TOS account with 20 or 50 bucks youby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
OMG!!!!!!!!!! It's BCT. How the heck have ya been man??!!! Great to see you are still lurking the board from time to time. What is Insta? If ya don't mind my asking. Never mind on the insta. I think I found ya.... I think. hehehe.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I still think having multiple monitors is not necessary to do this well. GW used to say that he traded on his laptop. Also he was using webTv way back in the day to trade long before he ever had a laptop PC. Lastly there were no real time charts back then either. If any of you guys ever had WebTv you know it was very very low resolution, especially when used on the old CRT TV's in the dayby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
GW absolutely forbids anyone from using the "call the weekly" game within Alchem Charts. He's tried to make it clear that he doesn't want students using the Call the Weekly game at all. He says it's broken and not built as intended. The big reason was because you could call the weekly candle a Doji cause it will move less than 4 bucks and the program would count is as a white or aby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I'd like to hear more on that as well. I was hoping GW would have expanded more on it during class, but he felt it was better to spend another 18 minutes telling yet another long story. I paid for a stock market class and instead got 3 days worth of stories. I think everyone should spend more time talking about themselves. *heavy sarcasm in the previous sentence* When Jesus taught usingby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
On second thought, it seems that TOS doesn't like "historical scans" You can run that scan within a column, but it doesn't like to pull in stocks from a scan built on time frames. So I pulled in stocks that matched basic scan criteria, then filtered from there. That worked better.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Okay folks. I created this today, but I'm not exactly sure what I created. Anyone care to guess?? I wanted to create a scan for TOS that scans for any stocks that are option-able. Also that has a WEEKLY AVERAGE PRICE MOVE of greater than 5 dollars over the last 4 weeks. I kinda sorta think I've done that, but I'm not sure entirely. Ultimately I'd like to be able to define the time peby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
A not so quick question. I know that on the weekly chart, when you put you mouse on a candle the data box window will give you the O, H, L, C, and the Range for that candle. But that is the range from the high price to the low price for that candle. Is there a way to have it tell you the difference between the open and close price instead of the full range for that candle??? Or is thereby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Never mind. It's my proxy that is blocking it. I see it now. Sorry.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion

Robert's AutoWave for TOS seems to be pretty spot on to me. I fiddled with it for a long time, but his was way better than anything I could come up with. It seems to be step for step in tune Alchem charts. I'm can't say about comparing it to Qcharts since I don't use it anymore. Rby RichieRick - Trading Discussion

You guys are spot on. I think she began to get a bit discouraged with the forum because it seemed to turn into an "indicator" thing, and no one wanted to put in the effort to learn to read the charts. Anyone ever spend an hour looking at charts before bed, and then still seeing charts when you close your eyes? I have, its like seeing spots after a bright light flashes in your eyes.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
If a market maker can NOT make a market and marry up a buyer and a seller then the MM will take the position. That's why a MM is forced to make a market, and YOU are not. That is the advantage we have over a MM. We do not HAVE to trade when the market is open, but he does. Just buy one strike in the money, and forget about all that other stuff. He doesn't teach it the same way he did back inby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
GW hasn't mentioned "open interest". Just use one strike price in the money and you'll be fine.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion

My apologies if my post appeared as a "bash and run". It wasn't meant to be, but I can see how someone would see it that way. My apologies for that as it was not my intention. I just have a single question. Do you make your living trading? If you don't then you should not be providing insight to "new guys" that are just starting out. I'm not there yet, but soon verby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I think you are thinking about all this WAY to much. This is no "trump" rally. This was gonna happen regardless of whoever won the election. The market doesn't like unknowns and uncertainty, once things were decided the market continued doing what it was doing. Hi guys, Did the issue with the ADX settings ever get settled? I'd like to ensure that all of my TOS setting match Qcharts EXACTLY!!! I know Gary is pimping Alchemcharts now, but he still uses Qcharts himself. To me that speaks volumes. I don't really trust the accuracy of the price data from Alchemchats like I do with TOS. Not to mention TOS is still free. Like that....!by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
I hear lots of people talking about the Market, and how it prefers one candidate over another. I don't think the Market itself much cares who the winner is, it just doesn't like uncertainty. Once the winner is determined the Market goes back to doing what it was doing. She just doesn't like surprises.by RichieRick - Trading Discussion
You could try sending a message to Alchemcharts and ask they have the correct symbol for the commodities you are looking for. It really drives me nuts when two different charting packages use different symbols for the same thing. Like how Alchemcharts uses $INDU for the Dow, and TOS uses $DJI for the Dow. I've noticed that with several indexes as well. Several that I see on Alchemcharts I cby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
Ok. I understand what you are talking about now. What is the best method to clean them up and remove all the crap??? Do I have to do this for each chart window I have open. I currently have 3 charts open. A Weekly, daily and 233 min chart. I also found that there are many chart windows. Not just on the "Chart" tab. You will need to add a symbol to get them to load, and then yoby RichieRick - Trading Discussion
