Darcy, I enjoy reading your posts because you always seem to throw out a new nugget. Today, you mention the regression tool. I just started playing with it to see if I could follow along with your post above. Fun stuff So my question would be this: do you re-draw that regression line each night to see what it's doing? I notice that it changes (sometimes drastically) depending upon whichby robert - Trading Discussion
@BigMoney, I don't have the WIN indicator, and don't know how it works. That said, I've been comparing the FP/HRFP indicator to it when someone posts a screenshot of the WIN just to see if their respective signals line up. The author of the WIN mentions that he utilizes four different indicators to develop his signal (possibly the same four GW indicators?). Anyway, my charts do not have eby robert - Trading Discussion
I've got extra moving averages on my chart, but the basic info (BB, 50 & 200 MA, candles) is the same.by robert - Trading Discussion
I'm not sure what you mean. I have more candles on my chart, but if you start from the large red candle (or a few before it), then they are a spot-on match. Big red candle > smaller red candle > white candle with the open sitting on the 200MA > small red candle above 200MA > bigger red candle opening above 200MA and falling below the 200MA and extending slightly below the bottomby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteBigChartTrader I just want to verify the images are of a 233 chart. Is that correct? Yes, I posted a 233 to match yours (note the orange 233 in the upper left corner of my chart).by robert - Trading Discussion
I'm just posting this as anecdotal evidence. Once again, that WIN indicator is signaling right along with the FP down and the HRFP up. It's starting to look like the author of that indicator may well have been a GW student.by robert - Trading Discussion
Just for the sake of comparing, TOS also has 358.88 on 11/8 for AMZN.by robert - Trading Discussion
Yep, that did it. I've had a fixed data window open for quite some time but didn't make the connection between it and the labels. Thanks, Blessed.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRichieRick Robert, How were you able to remove the names and settings info from each of your indicator windows in TOS? I hate to say it, but I cannot tell you right now. I have been messing with my layout for about 30 minutes since you asked the question and haven't been able to turn my labels back on. I also downloaded a fresh install of the software and have been unable to turnby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteBlessed2Invest For some reason this forum wants to put a winking smiley face where there should be a parentheses. You have to close the parentheses with a ) everywhere there is a smiley.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteTraderJoe Another plus about Tradestation is they have a strategy network where people sell indictors and strategy. Not that I like to vary from my current training but I found a indictor that helps me hit my entry on all of my trades. I am thinking that this guy must have been a former student of GW because for some reason his indictor signals at the same time as I would get into a trade. Tby robert - Trading Discussion
Spammers infiltrate the forum every few days. Management is pretty quick to delete them. No doubt those messages will be gone before lunch today.by robert - Trading Discussion
Quotegzgbink Robert do you have code to have the green and red boxes on the watch list in TOS for HRFP or FP? It would be easy to code. However, I would not recommend it as the custom watch-list columns in TOS are extremely unreliable. Those columns look great after-hours, but during critical, live market hours, the columns either don't update at all, or update so late as to be completely uby robert - Trading Discussion
Wow! Congrats Darcy. I'm always nervous about playing a stock when it opens that far outside of the BB.by robert - Trading Discussion
I've been reading about how volume can be an important indicator to show the strength of a move. In doing some research, I came across the idea of averaging volume across the same time periods each day rather than averaging the past candles. Doing so will better show whether the volume is atypical for a specific time of day such as lunch time, or the market open. For instance, many stocks wby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRaleighTrader Anyone have a clue how to set up autowave in StrategyDesk? As far as I know, it is exclusive to QCharts.by robert - Trading Discussion
I also traded LNKD today. My trades are still small and my goal was only $500 but it started moving quickly and when I saw a profit of $1100, I grabbed it right away. Could have made nearly double that had I stayed in, but I was quite happy with my results. Darcy, I notice that normally you seem to purchase the weekly options, but it looks like you purchased the monthly puts above. Curiousby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteTCB I was using only 3 custom column setting, avg vol., open signal and daily trend and I haven't had any issues with them. Thanks. If you aren't having any issues with them, then perhaps I'll add mine back to my charts tomorrow and see how they act during market hours. QuoteTCB I was already looking at some of that info in the custom columns under TOS About a month ago, I had setup the signals as custom quote columns as well. During the after hour sessions, they looked great. However, during market hours I found that they either didn't update at all (as shown below) or they would take 20 minutes or more to update. I've written a bit of code for TOS which incorporates several tips for intra-day trading gleaned from reading "The Market Maker's Edge", as well as, rookie30's detailed posts outlining his trading rules. This information has helped me greatly. As a way of saying thanks, I'm sharing this code for TOS. I also nearly jumped on AMZN this morning when the stock was beginning to break below the 200MA on the 13 chart. However, I didn't like how below the LBB it was either, so I waited a bit before skipping this one.by robert - Trading Discussion
Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has been willing to share their trading knowledge with a special thank you to Darcy and Rookie30 for their very detailed intra-day trading techniques. QuoteRaleighTrader I noticed on one of your screen shots (for Netflix) that you had a 20 day, 13 min timeframe. Is there a way to customize such timeframes on TOS Charts? Just curious, thanks much! It's easy, though not immediately obvious. Take a look at this thread:by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRaleighTrader Does this method work on the Daily and 233 charts? Thanks much! - RaleighTrader Yes. This indicator will work for any time frame. Just follow the instructions above and add it to your chart.by robert - Trading Discussion
Check out ThinkOrSwim software. You will have to setup an account with TDAmeritrade to use it. However, you do not have to fund the account or give them any money. Once you have your account login details, download the ThinkOrSwim software which is completely free to use. It has real-time streaming quotes, futures, and is customizable per Gary's charts.by robert - Trading Discussion
Quoterookie30 I need to learn how to customize my settings to alert on FP and HRFP. I've seen various formulas in the past which ran 10 separate scans for each variation of FP/HRFP (4 FP combinations up, 4 FP combinations dn, HRFP up, and HRFP dn). Seemed way too complicated to me so I wrote my own code which will flag any variety of FP/HRFP with only one scan. I just want to know that sometby robert - Trading Discussion
Quotemtut the complexity of your formula as well as your connection speed and hardware could be factors but i have found it generally associated with the formula. The formulas are all pretty simple. My most complicated one (which is very simple) determines whether the stock has crossed either the high or low from yesterday. plot HL = if close > high[1] then 1 else if close < low[1] tby robert - Trading Discussion
Addendum to my post above. Perhaps I spoke too quickly. It would seem that TOS may not be up to the task. Everything was well and good when setting up formulas after hours. However, things aren't so rosy during live market hours.
