Rick, I believe I should explain how the modified zigzag indicator works. At its most basic, the indicator tries to plot a line between the lows and highs of a swing in price. The complexity comes in trying to determine what constitutes a swing in price. To do that, the indicator calculates the Average True Range of the previous 5 bars then multiplies that by a user-defined factor (theby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteJerry9982 Your contributions, especially the thinkscripts, are terrific. Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. QuoteJerry9982 How do you script the "aggregation"/chart interval label that shows on the charts above? I wrote a custom script for it. Either add this as its own indicator or paste it at the very top of my "edge" study. #Display Chart Time Frame inby robert - Trading Discussion
Unfortunately, no. Stacking two charts vertically will only display 3 of your 4 indicators and if you try to stack three charts vertically, you'll be reduced to seeing only the candlestick area with no lower indicators. If you want to display all four of your chart indicators, you'll have to add additional charts horizontally rather than vertically.by robert - Trading Discussion

QuoteRaleighTrader One last observation, do you have a simple way of watching 9 charting timeframes all at once? RaleighTrader, I've got a three-monitor setup. My middle monitor is setup very similar to what Darcy has described above. I have the below grid of charts setup on my left monitor so that I can quickly see what those stocks are doing. Darcy, Let me add my thanks as well. I always look forward to your excellent posts. Over the past few months, reading your posts detailing your thoughts and trading strategies has helped me tremendously. Gary's courses have provided me with a great market background, but your way of explaining things has sort of clicked with me and provided a more practical knowledge base. So, thank you.by robert - Trading Discussion
Thanks, Dan, for the additional QCharts screen-grabs. If anyone is curious, the thinkscript is still a match.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRichieRick @Robert, Thanks again! That last updated version you posted it solid. Your welcome.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteTCB May I ask what seems to be the differnce between your udated and the original modified zigzag3.2 besides the fact that then new code has a solid line now which could be done by changing the color in the original under the settings for the uptrend, downtrend, and unconfirmed trend to all be the same color. Just was wondering if I was missing something. The original zig zag that I posteby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRichieRick Concerning the Auto Wave indicator for TOS. Is there a way to tell it NOT to show the "undefined" section? Also, could there be a way to tell the script NOT to show the line until the trend is either ended or reversed? It's kinda funny because the system seems to know when the change the color of the line, so it must know when the "trend" has ended or else itby robert - Trading Discussion
26htailog, As a follow up to your request, I looked into installing TC2000 on my system, but it is a subscription service that I'll not be signing up for. So, I'm afraid you'll have to figure it out on your own. Sorry, bud.by robert - Trading Discussion
Quotejmkiritsis Just curious how did you add that trigger line to your DMI study? I can't find where to add the band? Is it a custom ADX study? Yes, custom. Dead simple, though. Quote26htailog Is it possible to write a formula for HRFP in TC2000? I'm sorry to tell you that I am utterly unfamiliar with that product. I have never once looked at it and have no idea what capabilities it has. I've got quite a lot on my plate this week; but if I get time and if TC2000 is something that I can install on my Mac for free, I'll take a look at it.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteModata I am a GW 1-5 student and am using your indicator and am finding it very useful. Would you kindly share with me how to convert it into a scan for TOS? QuoteJLT248 Qcharts is awesome, anyone here use tradingview.com been using to chart bitcoin, only problem is, no Autowave.... any suggestions? You might look into using ThinkOrSwim (which all the scripts in this thread were written for) or TradeStation both of which are free and offer real-time charting indicators on par with QCharts.by robert - Trading Discussion
Darcy, thanks for the further explanation. I look forward to reviewing it in better detail this weekend when I've got more time to sit down with the charts and study a bit.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRichieRick These are all great!! Now get to work on an AutoWave for TOS!!! QCharts AutoWave on top -- ThinkOrSwim with modified ZigZag on bottom I did not write this code, I only modified it slightly. Thanks to TCB and Dan for providing QCharts screenshots to compare the values. Thanks for discussing your exit thought process. I'm getting pretty good at identifying my entry points, but my exits are still rough. Had I been in that trade yesterday and seen my profits dwindle from $954 back down to $234 I would have hit that sell button and run. I did just that last week. I got out of two trades, keeping a small profit, when a pull back occurred. However, had I waitedby robert - Trading Discussion
Here I present Billy Bob's Better Gap Indicator. This will automatically label the upper and lower boundaries of a gap. Additionally, the gap mid-point, half-gap distance up/down, and full gap distance up/down are marked. These values are then carried forward on the chart to show areas of potential support or resistance. Having scanned through several charts and different time periods,by robert - Trading Discussion
I originally posted this code a few months ago, but am putting it into this thread to keep things organized. I've written a bit of code for TOS which incorporates several tips for intra-day trading gleaned from reading "The Market Maker's Edge", as well as, rookie30's detailed posts outlining his trading rules. This information has helped me greatly. As a way of saying thankby robert - Trading Discussion

The "Market Forecast" indicator is a proprietary Investools indicator that is available only on the ThinkorSwim platform. It is an oscillator that ranges between zero and 100, similar to stochastic and RSI. It works well with indices, futures, currencies, broad-based ETFs, and less-volatile large-cap stocks. It shows multiple time frames on a single chart. The indicator is very nuanby robert - Trading Discussion
I thought I'd share a few more ThinkScript indicators for ThinkOrSwim that I've written. The first is a modification to the standard ADX/DMI indicator. I added color coding to make it easier for me to see when the ADX trend strength is getting stronger or weaker. I also added a line at 25 since ADX above 25 signals a strong trend. Quoterookie30 I traded calls on AMZN. I went in on my 9:56 candle off my 13 and exited at 10:50 after the doji formed on the previous candle. Looks like I made almost the same trade. I bought AMZN Dec13 385 Calls at 09:54:56 However, I didn't see as much profit as you did. I'm not so good at letting my trades run yet. I've still got the mindset of grabbing a small profit when I see one.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteRichieRick Only problem is the "Volume" option seems to give todays volume as apposed to the average daily volume over a given time period. Ah...didn't notice that you wanted average volume when I originally read your post. Easy fix. 1. delete the volume line in your scan. 2. add a custom filter for average daily volume. * Add Study Filter * Custom * Aggregation Period =by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteNMR Does anyone have a 5 crossing 10 crossing 20 scan for TOS available that they would be willing to share? I use TOS and would love to try it ! Thank you. Here's the one I wrote for myself. I tried to filter out some of the false positives, but you still have to use this in conjunction with all the other indicators as not every signal is a trade. EDIT: Oops. Nope. I almost bought CALLS around lunch time when AMZN moved above the 50 MA on the 34 chart and above yesterday's high. But it just wasn't moving well enough, so I held off.
