I just checked the NFLX open and apparently I was all kinds of wrong.by robert - Trading Discussion
Hey, mtut, I hope you don't mind if I throw my hat into the ring. I certainly need practice in predicting stock movement. My trading is still inconsistent in that I win some and lose some. Thankfully my wins outnumber my losses. So, take what I'm about to say with a massive grain of salt. Quotemtut NFLX to go long if opens UP on Thursday. NFLX stoch is oversold and turning. QuoteGameOver How hard would it be to add an alarm, say ring for a green bubble and a bell for a red bubble on the autowave script. Add the following lines to the bottom of the autowave code. Alert(!IsNaN("ZZ$" ) and barNumber != 1 and isUp, Concat(GetSymbolPart(), " at new swing high." ), Alert.BAR, Sound.Ring); Alert(!IsNaN("ZZ$" ) and barNumber != 1 andby robert - Trading Discussion
I wanted a quick way to compare the current close with the previous few bars without having to always drag the crosshair around the screen so I whipped up this little bit of code. The length of the line is adjustable in the settings. Perhaps one of you will also find it useful. input lineLength = 4; def barNumber = BarNumber(); def barCount = HighestAll(If(IsNaN(close), 0, barNumber));by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteTan One minor issue: Before market open, while I'm looking at the pre market chart, the open range high and low alerts keep getting triggered very frequently even though there is no 5 minute open range formed yet! See if this helps. #Trigger alerts Alert(SecondsFromTime(0930) > 0 and AboveYhigh and !AboveYhigh[1], Concat(GetSymbolPart(), Concat(" above yesterday's high. Enby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteTan Wow, the code works great! Thank you so much. You're the best You're welcome. QuoteTan Can you help me with a few other things? Is it possible also for the entry price to be displayed in the alert message? Replace the #Trigger alerts section with the following code: #Trigger alerts Alert(AboveYhigh and !AboveYhigh[1], Concat(GetSymbolPart(), Concat(" above yesterdaby robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteMTUT This trading thought process sounds similar to one presented by The Rumpled One. If so, I would be interested in hearing more details such as a stock list that might work here. I did some googling this morning while I was writing the code for Tan and I believe his approach is based on the Open Range Success Formula by Geoff Byssche of MarketGauge. QuoteTan I am looking for 4 indicators. One that can plot the previous day high and previous day low and the pivot point (previous day high + low + close)/3 with alerts. Second indicator that can plot 5 minute open range high and low with alerts. Third indicator to plot the ten day high and the ten day low. Fourth indicator to display ADX of SPY on the upper TOS chart in green button if 20 or morby robert - Trading Discussion
Jluis, I'm unfamiliar with either John Carter or the TTM Squeeze you mention so I had to google it so that I might try writing the code you requested. In doing so, I found that the thinkscripter website already has a couple of posts and videos which go into great detail describing what you are trying to do. Rather than re-invent the wheel, I'll just point you to the site. Good luck.by robert - Trading Discussion
C1891, The ThinkOrSwim website provides many excellent tutorial videos demonstrating how to setup and use the software. I recommend watching at least the chart studies video and the chart styles video. The first will describe how to add chart studies to your charts while the latter will detail changing time frames and type of chart displayed. The tutorial videos are available here: Aby robert - Trading Discussion
I have one question. What is the Plot line 25 used for? It just draws a horizontal line at the 25 level so it is easy to see when ADX is >25.by robert - Trading Discussion
QuoteC1891 I have the charting parameters but don't know how to set them up. Can you help me? Thanks! Have a look at this thread which explains which studies to setup and how to set custom time frames. If you have further questions just shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to help.by robert - Trading Discussion
Good trades, MTUT. I also traded TSLA around the same time as you yesterday, but it didn't go so well for me. I purchased calls about 5 minutes after you did while the candle your orange arrow is pointing to was still a long green candle. As you can see, within just a few minutes the stock started to pull back. I wanted to wait a candle or two to see if the 5 min average would hold allowing tby robert - Trading Discussion
Quotesmccooey I've been looking everywhere for an indicator that alerts me with a sound and message (within tos) as soon as price crosses the upper or lower bullinger band, it would also be great if the background color could change to grey, so i immediately know which chart I'm looking at. Quotejmkiritsis I set up your FP/HRFP scan. Thanks so much for the tutorial!. Do you know of any way to have it scan on a custom 233 time frame instead of a daily time frame? I didn't see that option but just curious if you knew if it was possible. You're welcome. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of the ThinkorSwim platform, it is not possible to run a scan on custom time frames. Theby robert - Trading Discussion

QuoteNMR Robert: I wanted to create a signal on my watchlist in TOS that flags a stock when it is outside of the BB: Can I just use your code below and add that as a scan? Dan, you're probably right; but the software is free and does meets my needs so I certainly can't complain.by robert - Trading Discussion
sonicwave, The HRFP scan formula that I posted should work the same on any time frame. That said, I just tested the scan with 1hr, 4hr, Daily, and Weekly aggregation periods and only the daily seems to work properly. It must have something to do with the way TOS is implementing custom formulas. I don't have an answer for you. sorry.by robert - Trading Discussion
By the way, the TOS update this past weekend added the ability to share chart settings with other users. So, if anyone wants to use the color scheme I showed above, just follow the directions at this link.by robert - Trading Discussion
I received this question in a PM. QuoteI was wondering how do you shade the inside of the bollinger bands like you have in your picture of your screenshot. I wrote some code for it. Use this instead of the default bollinger bands. I've got it filled with a very light shade of green to go with my color scheme but you can easily change the colors if you wish. I thought I'd post something a little different. Given the number of hours I spend looking at charts each day, I find it important to have a color scheme that isn't too harsh on the old eyes. I find that the lighter color schemes tire my eyes after a while. I've been playing around with different colors and finally settled on something I kind of like. Here's what I'm currently using.by robert - Trading Discussion
Darcy, I want you to know that I really appreciate that you post your winning trades. I have been going back through some of your old trades and practicing them. ThinkOrSwim has an "on demand" feature which lets you pick a date in the past and replay the market for that day as if you were watching it live. It'll draw the charts tick by tick and even includes option prices. This isby robert - Trading Discussion
