MTUT,

What is changing on the chart that makes it turn red or green. I can have all columns green, but the charts aren't all green.
Re: "E" success
July 14, 2015 11:43AM
there can be minor differences in the update frequency of the individual charts and the columns causing them to not match.

MTUT,

Thats what I was thinking. I appreciate the code, and everything you do for the thread. Makes trading fun when you make money.

I only trade when all signals HAVE fired. I did not capture a screen shot at entry but scrolling back you can see the blue dots (indicated by white arrows). These dots indicate when a signal was true for that chart. I entered trade at 9:37 so you should see blue dots on all charts around that time.

I ran OnDemand which is a great way to practice (hint), I used it to see mtut’s AMZN trade on Monday morning July 13, 2015; below is his entry charts at 9:36, one minute before his order was filled. The columns (not shown) do not seem to work well in the OnDemand environment but the charts do appear to be working the same as real time. Nice trade and thanks for sharing mtut.

Sorry about clipping the right side of the charts, this is my first screen shot post.

Re: "E" success

Work In Progress,

I am glad that you were able to verify my signals. These signals are so amazing that I sometimes wonder if people think I am making my trades up or doctoring them somehow. Point is, I have nothing to gain by fooling anyone. I might suggest that you zoom in on at least your three bottom charts (press the + key at the bottom of each chart). That will eliminate some of the noise and allow you to focus more on the right edge of the charts.

DrPhil,

I only trade weekly options that expire in the current week except on Friday, when I may trade the next week option

Click here to see my trades for the past month [docs.google.com]. NOTICE there are two tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet. June 2015 and July 2015. Click them to see the trades for each month

Awesome info here. I've been digesting a lot of this and it looks pretty solid. Thanks for all the coding and examples. I traded FOREX back in the day for a few years and referencing multiple time frames was one of the 'steps' I looked for.

Still getting all the steps and set-ups down with the most recent code and how to's. Stupid question but....is "Darcy's' thread still around or where is the meat of the method posted? The method 'simply' looks like following the longer term (30min) trend and re-enter on the 3min or when all the lights say green or red. Either way, hope to have all the charts set-up this weekend. I did do a quick 'what I look for' this morning with all the timeframes here and when my signal was all green made a few quick bucks. That already has me thinking of modifying this set-up to fir my indicator(s) but will nail this down first.

mtut: are your options buys pretty much ITM or ATM? That's what it looks like.

Thanks again for the 'open architecture' here....

I have made several trades today. I don't plan to post my trades in this thread any longer. I find it redundant to keep showing the same setup over and over. I will continue to update the spreadsheet located here [docs.google.com] and answer questions, update code etc.

Learn by doing....

Been watching the charts(signals) and the colors updating this morning. Was in and out of FB and AAPL twice just trading 3 or 4 ATM contracts for now but all 4 trades were profitable. AMZN gave some very good returns if you were in them.

Just a few trading notes....FB gave multiple entries per the 3min vs. AMZN only a few. Volume is critical and I have always payed attention to it during a trend or around 'probable' tops and bottoms. Per FB's 3min chart and the multiple entries..this is where reading the volume can come into play when deciding to enter or not. If the signal is shown and the 3min is flattening along with the volume this can be a sign of weakness in the trend signaling a pause or turn. Soooo, entering with a lower amount of contracts or lessening a profit target might be a good idea with decreasing volume and a signal showing....or avoid the trade altogether. 'Usually' the first signal in a given trend is the strongest and it pays to get in early.

Ending the day green in your account is always good.

mtut i have learned a lot just from reading your post and studing your charts, you have motovated me to get back into trading. in july i have made 10 trades with only 1 small loss, account up $3532.00.

Re: "E" success

Dr. Phil:

I agree. The multiple timeframe apporach has always been a good method.

However, I was getting some inconsistencies with the plots. In AAPL you see that the 20min chart was green but the watchlist columns was gray In BIDU the 3min chart was gray but the watchlist column was green. All code is the most recent from page 5 of the thread. Not sure why this was happening.

And, the dot only remains on the chart if the signal still was vaild per the close of that bar, correct?

The SPY is a good ticker to follow alos...very tight spread and very liquid.

palmer if you go back on roberts history on june 5, 2014 @ 4:51 pm you can open his grid charts in tos. this alone is a great tool. when i loaded it i put it in my favorites and open each morning. you may have it set up from his code but i do not have the smarts to set up in tos, this is the easist way for me. dp

DrPhil,

Thank you for you kind words. I am glad that you, and others, are finding a measure of success utilizing this setup. I did not mean to imply that I was no longer going to support this thread, rather I am simply not going to continue posting the charts. In terms of charts, I think there is adequate information provided here and any additional would just clutter things up. You can still view my trade spreadsheet to see a breakdown of trades including times and profits. I hope that others, like yourself, will continue to post their trades and share their thoughts.

Palmer,

There is a difference in the refresh rate between the charts and the columns that can cause them to not jive. The dot, like any signal, can appear / disappear as the signal becomes valid / invalid. Thus, it is only truly valid once the candle closes.

mtut:

Yes, I noticed that during the day that sometimes things need to catch up with each other to show as all singals are a 'GO'. I think a lot of it depends on your PC processing speed, data rate, etc.

And, I was thinking that the plot remains on the chart only if the bar closes with the signal valid as you stated. Thanks for confirming that.

Will be trading this next week and report back here.

Thanks for the work you put in to this. I pester Robert here and there about how to write a script and for the most part it is so I can learn how to code a few things on my own. Learned a great deal about how to get things done from the both of you so thanks to you as well....

mtut-
do you actually need the MF and ADX on the charts ot is that code built into the "E" code? I was updating some of the code based on this thread and wanted to make sure I am not deleting something I should have on the chart.

Did a NFLX trade this AM that worked well- just after the open.

also- wanted to double check your trading thought process:

1) when all of the columns are RED or GREEN this gives you a signal that there may be a trade on the charts
2) you switch to the stock where the all RED or all GREEN columns are
3) if all of the backgrounds of that stock are all RED or all GREEN you enter that trade in that direction
Re: "E" success

"E" trades that fired this AM. I briefly saw the NFLX signal fire (on StrategyDesk), but it didn't stay on very long so I didn't make an entry. Wish I had stayed in the TSLA trade, it was through the roof (> 100%):

RT:

What time did you get in/out of the AAPL trade? I'm thinking you got in somewhere between 9:30 and 10 and out around 10:15 per the 5min 5/10cross or might have held longer?

I'm not big on trading opening gaps and got in when price was at the top in the am. Need to wait for a pullback first on thise gaps.

Took a loss there but made it up on FB with some extra for the day to end up green

I was watching LNKD but the spreads on the options were so varied that I took it off the list.

Gap - pullback...gap - pullback...gap - pullback
Re: "E" success

Just a word on volume:

Even though the signs said go, this was a large selling bar after a good run. This told me that the current 3min trend might stall and profit taking could show up. Level 2 was starting to sell off too and the 5min had the 5/10 cross a few bars later.

NMR,

You do not need to show MF or ADX as they are built into the signal. Steps 1 2 and 3 are correct.

If you look above at A Work in Progress example, that is how my charts look

RT,

I think you got it!! Nothing wrong with taking a few GW bricks and calling it a day. If trading for a lifetime, taking a chunk will serve you well.
Re: "E" success

Palmer,

I got in the AAPL trade at 9:31am and was out at 9:39am. I didn't use the 5/10 cross to exit; just set a GTC for .50 and let it ride.

MTUT,

Thanks for the feedback, trading is for a lifetime & I'm very happy making bricks.

Scraped a little over a c-note on NFLX puts this morning. It was coming back hard so I got out. Was showing + $300 but limit order did not get filled because it was moving back up in a hurry. Other tickers having a hard time finding direction; 30min can't 'decide'. Will take a look this afternoon. Thinking that the markets are waiting on the AAPL earnings..might be choppy for the rest of the day.

Still having issues with 20min watchlist block not in sync with the 20min chart. Not sure why. Haven't modified anything but will explore.
