23% or so in a day is lovely. Congratulations. Darcy, I just got my workspace set up (I hope correctly) with E charts across the bottom of the screen and GW across the top of varying time periods. I am trying to see the E on this trade. It doesn't appear that the E sets up at precisely the same time for the different time periods. I see the E on the 3 at 11:30, about 11:05 on the 5, andby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, I say go for it. You seem to have a very reliable method of trading. Why not do it? What do you really have to lose? You stick to your rules and don't take large losses. Just don't forget about the vomit stage. My question to you is, how will you achieve retirement choice since, "Nobody retires from the trading leg!"? I'm not sure how old you are but if you start witby Kars - Trading Discussion

I have the same question as Rookie. The 5th red candle on the 55 on the 15th was pretty much the bottom. Why did you wait until the 5th one?by Kars - Trading Discussion
I just got an e-mail from OptionsHouse saying they are now offering mini-options on a few high-priced stocks: AMZN, AAPL, GOOG, and some ETFs. So if you wanted to do W&O on AAPL but couldn't buy $40,000 worth of stock in order to sell options against it, you could be do with a $4,000 basket instead, or more if you wanted to buy multiple contracts. I wonder if there is any difference in liby Kars - Trading Discussion
BigChartTrader- I have taken 1-5 and Advanced, not the others. I enjoyed the Advanced course, though I don't see myself using any of that stuff for a long time. But it does give me something to think about for other possibilities out there. I hope to hear more from you about your trades and advice. -Jonby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, I say amen to what Dash said. I get a lot out of your comments and am excited whenever I see a new comment on these boards because they are so beneficial. I have recently had some success in my W&O trades, so I may start posting more about those experiences to give people something else to think about - and so folks like you and Darcy don't worry so much about "monopolizinby Kars - Trading Discussion
Ok, Darcy, I'll bite on this one. I don't see a connection between the two dates that you mention other than there was a bog move up at market open on 27 Feb with the rest of the day pretty much flat. The price did not drop afterwards like it did today. Congratulations on your trade. I guess you probably trades your nominal $3000 limit giving you over a 35% gain in a short time window. Good work as always, Darcy. I was expecting you to say CRM before I opened your post. I'll be keeping my eyes on that one. (Maybe a split on the horizon for LNKD?)by Kars - Trading Discussion
Darcy, I know we all keep saying it, but thank you again. I'll take it as an honor that apparently your 100th post in these forums was a reply to my questions/rant. You have given me a lot to think about. I think you may be right about me basically searching for reasons NOT to trade. I think that is a big part of why I have focused more on W&O. It feels safer and more controllableby Kars - Trading Discussion
Darcy, Thank you for posting your thought-process with enough detail that those of us scoring at home can try to re-create the trade and learn from it. That said, I have some questions that I hope you wouldn't mind shedding some light on. I think all of us readers are hoping to be able to trade like you do at some point. So don't take any of these points as criticism, rather I am just tryby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, Have you considered putting some of those gains into a W&O account and working those trades at the same time? That is the goal after all. You don't have to wait until you have $15K in your trading account before you do that. After my first year of studying the market I had accrued $2500 in my trading account and started doing W&O trades in it because I wasn't ready to do traby Kars - Trading Discussion
The other day I was reviewing some upcoming trends on RTT and decided to buy 100 shares of CREE stock with the intention of doing W&O on it. I couple of trading days after I purchased the stock the company released news of a new LED consumer light bulb. The next morning the stock was up about 15-17% in response to the news. I had actually planned to wait for the price to come up some and buby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, Thank you for posting this trade to the detail you did. I finally got StrategyDesk set up and am running with it. Because you put the times and charts you used I was able to find where the trade was. Based on what I am seeing, the decision chart was indeed screaming at you to make the trade. But the action seemed to say go about 30 minutes you actually made the trade. I wonder if yoby Kars - Trading Discussion
After 3-4 phone conversations plus an on-line chat, I finally was able to get a resolution with TDAmeritrade. Sure enough I was one of the "orange" folks. But they wouldn't change mine to green. I told them I realize they are reportedly going away from SD in the near(ish) future and they are pushing ToS. But I told them I was familiar with QCharts and wasn't able to see what I was uby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, So I contacted TDAmeritrade about getting SD to work. Like you said the gentlemen on the phone was eager for me to use ToS. He even said he would have someone from that department call me to make sure I understood what ToS could do. I persisted saying that I was accustomed to QCharts and wanted to use something similar to what I had used before. He did say those folks were off todaby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, Thank you for the significant reply. You've given me a lot to think about. My feeling is that folks (I do at least) probably make the practice harder than it needs to be. You must have learned a great deal from all that practice. Taking significant notes on those trades would greatly enhance the learning. Anyway, I hope to be able to contribute to these boards more than justby Kars - Trading Discussion

Rook, I downloaded SD to my computer, but when I logged in using the same login information that I use for ToS, it wouldn't work. Instead I got an error telling me to verify my login on the TDAmeritrade website. I logged in to the website with the username and password but it wouldn't work on SD. I wasn't able to call TDAmeritrade before closing time to see if they could help. Have you hadby Kars - Trading Discussion
Thanks for the responses. I have been interested in the Printing Press but intimidated because I haven't gained the skill of reading the HRFP/FP charts very well yet. I haven't had enough confidence in my chart set-up to invest the time to try a lot of those kinds of trades. Now that I am getting ToS set up hopefully I can start doing some of these. I was first introduced to WSB 2 1/2 years ago and immediately was very excited about what I was learning. I started following the market daily right after that including the news play, notebook, etc. After ~9 months I had accumulated enough money and felt confident enough that I started doing real-money W&O trades. These were mostly really pretty easy, though I feel like I got a little lucby Kars - Trading Discussion
Rookie, I realize this is an old thread, but I'll give it a shot anyway. You said that you did 40+ trades every week and over 1000 trades over the preceding year. That's a lot. Were a bunch of those the news ones that Gary talked about. Or were those "real" paper trades? If so, how did you go about finding so many meaningful plays that you could actually learn from and not justby Kars - Trading Discussion
This is an interesting discussion and I'm glad I happened upon it. My problem is that my computers are Macs and, though I also have Windows 7 on mine, I'd rather not run it. Plus, the cost of QCharts is q little much. I've spent the last couple of hours trying to get my setting/studies on ToS to match QCharts. I'm having trouble with the ADX portion (only getting one line, not two) and also sby Kars - Trading Discussion
