Off my 13, I bought a bit of AMZN today and rode up from the previous days high at about $291+(resistance) to the doji at 10:22 on my 13. I picked up $2. Look at my indicators from yesterday. They are the same ones today (Hint). Not a huge money day, but based on my position size I made enough to buy me a cold Coca Cola and a pack of crackers-lol!by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I totally agree with Big Charts assessment and I am a small chart trader. All of us want to become big chart traders (well, maybe not everyone). I would love to have the luxury of not wrestling with a ton of indicators that must line up before I can consider a trade. The period of time I am in the trade, I am nearly glued to my my PC. Granted, I am only in trades an hour or two, but believe mby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
First of all, I am no pro, but I am learning how to earn a living by picking the low fruit from the tree. I am going to walk you through a trade I placed this morning. I hope this will help some of you who are trying to learn how to trade small charts. I am struggling as I use big charts, but I have a style that works right now, so I will continue to practice off big charts. Ok- I traded NFby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
It is great that you can walk away from this for awhile. Enjoy the mental break!by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Thanks Darcy, I am all over that one! I will study this concept and hopefully get better at these bigger charts.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Thanks Mtut and TCB, You guys are really advanced in this area. I am still learning how to customize my alerts, so they do not drive me crazy all day. I think I have set something wrong because I am getting alerts 20+ times a day. I will have some time this weekend to work with this a bit more. I need to learn how to customize my settings to alert on FP and HRFP. I think I have my settingsby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
rufinatti, I use the simple as well, but the 8 is a major indicator for me.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I am practicing AAPLoff 233 and Daily. On 8/20, I bought puts off the 233 as my decision and the Daily as my Trend. I entered the position off 233 after my second candle appeared to close below my 8MA. I played the little bounce off the top bolinger band and it started through the 8MA. My thinking was, white candle bounced off the top BB and followed by two good red candles on a reversal signby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
JTrader, Please respect BC's response to your request to see historical data. Your approach at this point feels as if you are attempting to draw another reaction. I have aspirations of being able to trade off Big Charts. Quite honestly, As I stated in a previous post (couple of months ago), I started practicing off big charts. I am embarrassed to say, but I totally forgot about the practice trades-until a couple of weeks ago. I will say this, I had specific and calculated reasons for placing my trades (off big charts-mostly daily). I did not just throwby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I was intrigued by a statement that was made regarding not having to sit at a computer and watch for setups. I spent a ton of time this weekend trying to figure this out. I did not understand, but I knew it could be done. After sleeping restlessly on Saturday night, I was awaken with a process that I missed. I pulled up Strategy Desk, downloaded the manuals from the internet, read all the detaby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I have been trading UA. I am a sports guy, so I am a little familiar with some of the shoe companies. Last week UA moved well in my direction. My trades weighed heavily on the ADX showing strength (going up), but candles going down. Take a look at the 55. Yes, I rode the ADX on Thurs. got out and rode again on Friday. If that ADX is up and my trade is on the same side of the broad markby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I really liike and appreciate each of your candid responses. I want to tell everyone that I trade from 1 laptop and a hotspot. I have a full-time job that require a lot of my time, but I prioritize. Is it easy? No it is not, but I have to trade. My wife and I are in public school education. I think a ton of Gary's students have lost their basket at one time or the other. I was hard headed and did not have patience. After getting the taste of success by taking a basket from $2500 to over $7000 in a couple of months (lost it all), I wanted more of that action, so I lost it again. I was not going to give up because I was simply too close to "Getting It". I dove back afteby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Welcome to the family! I was introduced to WSB by one of Gary's original students in 2011. He saw my enthusiasm and got tired of me begging him to help me. He wanted to protect the integrity of the product, so he used his connections, contacted Gary's assistant and bought a full set of the CD's and manuals for me. I dove into the program, asked questions and started trading (too early). I builby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
RTT is the some of the best dollars to spend! You get sound facts-not opinions or what you want to see. You see what actually happened 1, 2, 3, or more years ago-during the exact same window of time. I have started to trade much larger positions, so it is important to use all indicators available. Gary talked about the time it took to go back and flip through charts to find trends. I do not trade the cross. I trade the "E". If going up, I look for the 5 over 10-10 over 20. If going down, I look for an "E" with 20 over 10-10 over 5. A large part of my trading is based on momentum. It is not an absolute must for me to have an "E" on my trend chart for me to place a trade. My main chart is a 13, so the 55 is my trend chart. I rarely get over 30%, so you are really good at knowing when to exit. That is an area that i am aweful. When I am over 20%, I will run for the hills, if I see glimmers of a reversal. Most of the time, I bail too early, but have learned to be happy with that. I tend to get blistered when there is a slight reversal signal and the option price changes and wipes me of about 15% of my profits. Whaby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
On Friday, I bought deep in money calls on AAPL. I sold this morning for a good profit. I rarely hold over a weekend, but Apple was the first stock I traded, so I am pretty familiar with how it moves and what makes it move. I also bought puts on BIDU today. I rarely make more than 1 transaction in the market within a day. Since I was only selling a position that was held overnight, I mby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I had my first losing trade in a very, very long time. I have no one to blame but myself. I will try not to convey how disappointed I am in myself, and humble myself down to helping someone else opposed ot have a pity party. I have been having computer issues over the last week or so. TCB- You are all over it! I am happy for you. As I mentioned in previous conversations, if you study, have people willing to give guidance, and refuse to be defeated, this can be done. I often thank those who paved the way for me, but along the way, I picked up on a few things that work for me. Again, I am happy you have found a home with that 13. I am sorry guys, but I have to "flap my jaws" regarding this thread as well. I totally indulge myself for hours and hours of practice. I do not practice as much now as I did a few months ago. This is a fact... If you are not winning in practice, you will not win when you are using the real thing. As my college coach would sometimes say, "You practice like you play". I love trading NFLX because it is pretty consistent. When I trade NFLX, I look for quick trades because it seems to turn fairly quickly. I bought 3 NFLX Jul13 225 Calls. I picked up over $3 for a nice profit over $400 in about 30 minutes. I bought in a little earlier than usual, but I saw a strong push, so if nothing else, I wanted to pinch a couple of hundred on the ride up. It ran up a littby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I bought 3 AAPL July13 400 Calls. I paid more than I wanted, but I was pretty confident in this trade. I bought off the 13- 9:43 candle. When I saw a gap up that extended above the 200 MA, I knew I had support from the opening, so I knew i had a trade. When the second candle opened above belly of the first, I had more confirmation. These are stocks that will work-depending on the time of the season. For example, FOSL is a stock I trade very heavy before the holidays. I typically carry trades overnight when trading this stock during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. WYNN works better for me early spring/summer. CF is a stock that responds well to the 8 MA. If it is above I ride it off the 13. If the bands areby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I have studied bigger charts and found it very hard to find optimal setups as well. I am building some cash for the fall/winter zone. I have backtested some stocks from the previous years during the fall/winter zone. I am very confident I can trade well if I stick with a few solid rules. Big openings definately play a number on fairly new trader. I have learned to watch more than trade during big openings. It is very, very hard to determine which direction the movement will go after big openings. When I first started, I lost my a lot of money trying to chase after a big opening. I have reached a decent amount of success by trading small charts. I will release some my golden rules of how I trade.
