I have not able to flow smoothly in this trading zone. The market feels very shakey and very unstable to me, so I walked away from it for a few weeks and simply read and studied. This is what i needed to do. I am determined not to lose my basket again. It is still in tact and has about 30% more money in it than what I started, so I am happy about that. Dmkratzer, Thanks for your feedback. I have officially decided to maintain my account at Scottrade, but start trading my basket through OE. I simpy love the platform. When I have enough money, I will use Scottrade for W/O, or "Park" funds. I am doing well with Apple. I had a huge win yesterday (practice). Unfortunately, I am using a technique that is TOTALLY against Gary's rby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Off subject, but need a little guidance from someone! I use Scottrade as a brokerage account (real money), but I find it very different from Options Express (practice account). I talked to a Rep for OE. I am really considering switch my account because I practice so much with OE (100's of trades). I am in and out quickly. With Scottrade, I do not have an opportunity to practice. I am simpby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Yesterday I bought November Calls on CF. This morning the price dropped below my loss tolerance, so I had to abort. I lost $200 on this trade. Not happy about it, but I tried to hold it overnight. I thought I was ready to test the waters because CF reports earning on Nov. 5. Technical Analysis indicated it was a hold (my assessment). I was down less than $100 before closing. I have studied and practiced AAPL throughout my year of training. It has been a great stock to practice because it MOVES!!! I am very familar with it, so I tried to dive in and out as I did during training. AAPL is not hard to snipe (small bricks) off small charts. I bought 2 Call Contracts on Apple at about 2:30 and sold at about 3:30. I did not buy out in time (could not afford buying 1 moby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Candis, Thanks you very much. I traded puts on Amazon today and did very well. I will place more emphasis on the Nasdaq because most of the stocks I study are in that index. Today gave me some hope because I clearly saw indicators that pointed in the direction of a trade on puts. I am still not holding any positions overnight. Darcy, Wow, that has put so much in perspective and makes perfect sense. I have been reading and prayed that something would be revealed to me. I have been in a this fog. My confidence had starting slowly going down. I was not having bad trades because I have not been trading anything. I do not gamble either, so I was going to sit and try to figure this thing out. Today is about the strangest day I have seen in my 1+ years of studying the market. The Dow is up 20+ points, but EVERYTHING I study is down!!!! This has totally thrown me for a loop. I know the Job/Employment report came out, but normally most stocks follow the direction of the Dow- especially if the Dow is over 20 points. The only thing I can think of is this election along with reports unprby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I am learning how to recognize those little pops that are glaring me in the face as well. They can be very profitable. I have jumped on AAPL during practice and rode it up or down 5 or 6 bucks by just watching my charts, RTT and a few indicators. Darcy, you are really good at this. I really want to be there one day. Thanks for the encouragement. I feel really good about my knowledge and strategies. I am still cautious, but will stick with my system. I had another profittable trade today. It was more profittable than yesterday. I appreciate having the knowledge to trade up and down. There is money to be made almost everyday-just gotta have the time and ability to make smart decisions. FIRST REAL MONEY TRADE AFTER LOSING MY BASKET A YEAR AGO!!! I am not confident about this market right now, so I am leary about holding positions. I saw a true sniper trade glaring at me in the face. I slipped a position on Amazon at around 10:00. I bought 2 position for roughly $1500. I used my 55 as my Decision and the 8 as my action. I have a list of 20 areas I check before trading. Donna, I really hate you cannot help your friend find Gary's online course. I pray that God blesses Gary and his family. He has changed my life and the lives of so many people. He gave so much of his time to ensure his students learned how to trade. I am either listening to 2-5, "Getting Started", or Dennys Sessions nearly every day. I have a friend who has expressed interest in learning to trade. He is sharp, personable, and has been a friend for 15 years. What I am finding is he wants the seed in the middle, but does not want to peel back the layers to reach it (maybe not a good analogy!). He wants me to give him everything! What I am finding is, he is asking a lot of questions, apparently writing down my answers, and fby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
My mentor stated that the RTP Class was taught by Gary, and he is pretty sure Gary is not personally teaching any classes. He can vividly recall Gary insinuating several years ago that he would probably not teach very long. He had very little tolerance for lazy students who blamed him for their lack of success. He stated he would call a friend and try to find out more. I will let you know.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Hey Donna, Over a year ago, a friend of mine who trained under Gary William back in early 2000's found a way to get the entire package of materials for me. He is a very successful position trader and learned everything through Gary's teachings. He was one of the ones who trained in Gary's home, met at Dennys after hours, and was on the e-mail group with Gary. I never went through on-line claby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
I do not idolize any man, but wow, Gary's literature and teachings are "on spot". The Market Calendar is a very solid indicator. I simply knew the pop would come within the first 10 days. The reason was not important to me. I just wanted to get the pop. What did we have today? Yes, a nice pop that every WSB student who trades should have made money on (paper or real). I have gone through WSB 2-5 about 6 or 7 times and I continue to learn something new each time. I was listening to class 2 as he talked about trendlines, support and resistance, and entry. I have always been intrigued by Apple and the amount of movement that takes place in this stock. It is king in it's sector. I just CANNOT TRADE IT! When I tried to trade AAPL, I found myself losing more often than I was comfortable. It is very inconsistent. If you follow the major rules, you will very, very rarely see a trade that will work (my opinion). I have a good friend who trades iby rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Yeah, CF's premiums are starting to be more expensive than I am accustomed. If it is a trade I really feel good about, I will try going out of the money. I assume this will drive that premium down a bit. RTT is showing some strong trends in the near future for a couple of my expert stocks. My other signals simply are not strong enough for me to anticipate a solid trade in the very near future.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
Thanks for the Info Darcy! I found trades on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. I traded CF and CRM. All were for profits. I am learning patience. 5-10 trades a month has to be my concentration. I wanted to find more, but I refuse to chase. I learned the hard way.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
The Market Makers Edge is the best book I have read on the list. If you have been in this for a few months, you should understand most of the information. It is not the book that solves all your trading problems, but it gives a tremendous amount of frame work. It helps clarify alot of questions I had that were creating that little cloud. Darcy, I wanted to let you know that your information and guidance has helped me tremendously. I have been practicing for an entire year and it is finally coming together. Darcy, Awesome exampe of clearly seeing a Gap being filled and traveling back in the same direction. I will do more studying and research on Gaps. Darcy, It is good to hear that you never trade a mixed market. I am typically not as confident when placing a trade in a mixed market-although the market has clearly have turned in my direction. As I have stated before, I am approaching my 1 year of trading. It is embarrassing for me to admit this, but I was one of those hard headed students. I know it is early and market watching/trading is in full swing. I have had another day of good decision making. I have only focused on getting 1 to 3 bucks and out. I played CF this morning and got 3 buck very fast, so I was out. I also played CRM and got 3 bucks really fast. Apple headfaked me this morning, so I lost about $100 bucks of practice money on that play. I broke even with NVDA.by rookie30 - Trading Discussion
