Comparing volume from two time periods: Looking to compare the volume on the current 1 minute bars with the total daily volume from 1 bar ago. This is what I have: def daily = aggregationPeriod.DAY; def min = aggregationperiod.MIN; def vmin = volume(period = min); def vday = volume(period = daily)[1]; def cond1 = vmin > vday; plot result = cond1; I'm getting the error of aby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Simple logic: I am looking to plot the percent move up from the previous bar's high to the next bar's high and the percent move down from the previous bar's low to the next bar's low in the same indicator pane. I have the plot script for only the percent move up from the previous bar's high to the next bar's high and it works fine. However, it also plots the percent move that is negative ( <by Palmer - Trading Discussion
Strategy builder questions: Keeping things simple here and it is not the actual 'idea' but just need to see how things are done correctly... So let's say you want to buy the market when the RSI(14) crosses the 50 line...again not the actual strategy. input length = 14; def RSI = reference RSI(length).rsi; def buy = RSI[1] < 50 and RSI > 50; Now...instead of buying on the openby Palmer - Trading Discussion
dd6: The plot works great! Thanks! Question....I am central time zone US and my charts are set for the same time zone. I need to change the input RangeEnd = to 0829 and MarketOpen to 0830 I believe. Ok, so I need to define a condition where once the market opens, if the high during the regular trading hours (00830 through about noon) is greater than the pre-market high then do this...by Palmer - Trading Discussion
For some reason the begin_time and end_time functions and how to code them correctly are the trickiest things for me to do correctly. I want to get the highest high during pre-market trading which I want to begin at time = 0000 and end at time = 0830. Then, after the markets open if the high of the current bar is greater than that pre-market high....do this. I am central time US. This isby Palmer - Trading Discussion
PaintBar study: Just a quick question here. The following is a simple paintbar study that will color the price bars white if the RSI(14) is greater than 80. declare upper; def rel = reference RSI(14).rsi; AssignpriceColor (If rel > 80 then color.WHITE else color.current); However, it's coloring my volume bars white also when the condition is met. I have the volume plotted in it's owby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Hmmmm... I like the way you quoted my 'offer'...and your 'round' should be delivered by now. Hmmmm...well I changed the TimeMarketOpens to 1500 and TimeMarketCloses to 1900 (Central Time Zone) so I can only include the After Hours volume but I am still getting the volume for the day session. I think something needs to be changed in the defining of the eod and mktopen. Trying but not succeedingby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: Thanks for the help. I'm getting an error from def CumulativeVolume = if {bar @ begin_time} then volume else CumulativeVolume[1] + volume; Here is what I have: input begin_time = 1500; def afthours = if secondsfromtime(begin_time)>=0 then 1 else 0; def CumulativeVolume = if {bar @ begin_time} then volume else CumulativeVolume[1] + volume; plot CumulativeVolume;by Palmer - Trading Discussion
Getting the after hours volume: In TOS I like to look at the post market movers under the Lovers and Losers tab because there can be events that you may want to 'take part in'. My issue is that I want to see the volume that happens with those stocks but I only want to see the after hours volume. I know about customizing the headers for your watchlists and I want to add the post market volume.by Palmer - Trading Discussion

Figured that one out...now the next... A simple addition to the scan page to look for stocks that closed up 20% as compared to the previous day: In this example the code compares the close of 6 days ago to the close 5 days ago to look for those stocks that closed up greater than 20%. I'm getting stocks that closed above and below the 20%. Can't see why. I do have some volume and price paramby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Well...still have an issue: The code compares the volume from today to the previous day. I have this running on a 1minute chart so I don't have to switch to a daily chart to see the volume value from yesterday. I neglected to take into account the break from Friday to Monday so here is an edit: input PDaysBack = 2; def yesterdayvol = volume(aggregationPeriod.DAY ; def todayvol = volume(by Palmer - Trading Discussion

Changing the color of AddLabel per a variable value: I'd like for the AddLabel for the todayvol variable to be light green if it is greater than the previous day, pink if less than then previous day, and white if it is the same as the previous day; rare but needs to be there. This is the code so far: def yesterdayvol = volume(period = ”DAY”)[1]; def todayvol = volume(period = ”DAby Palmer - Trading Discussion
I've looked but can't find... Can ThinkScript send a text message alert from the code? For the code: Alert(Cond1,GetSymbol() + " Near Support1", Alert.BAR, Sound.Chimes); If possbile, where would the SMS text alert be? Thanksby Palmer - Trading Discussion
OK...Read back a few posts and saw that Robert is on a well deserved hiatus. In that case: Can some help me with this if possible??? I've looked but can't find... Yeah.. the spreads can be crazy at the opening. I've seen $LNKD ATM with a $2 spread at the opening and then about 5 mins later back to normal. Trade safeby Palmer - Trading Discussion
No screen shots but this morning using TOS central time US: Bull entry on PCLN at 8:33 price at 1399 Bull entry on NFLX at 8:35 price at 128.80 These were both gap ups outside of the BB's. I think MTUT mentioned to wait for the price to come back into the band, then let the signal fire again (on all 6 cylinders) and if you look back a the gaps this is a good idea. So a few weeks back I had our magician Robert put together a script that would plot the point difference when the RSI(5) crosses above the 30. The labels show where the cross was and what the difference in points was from the close of the crossing above day to the lowest low so many days after the cross. The script only looks at one cross. If there are two crosses within a 10 day period it only loby Palmer - Trading Discussion

Gotcha....well, now a request. I know it's simple but the past 4 hours has me stumped. Just tryng to reference the MoneyFLowIndex for a condition but things are not lining up correctly.... declare lower; def mfi = reference MoneyFlowIndex(10, close).MoneyFlowIndex; def bull = mfi > 50; def cond1 = bull; def bear = mfi < 50; def cond2 = bear; plot alert1 = cond1; plby Palmer - Trading Discussion
This time it's not a request! Remember the decal idea? How's this? They would be about 8 inches long and 4 inches high. Viny decals. You could put it on your laptop cover, filing cabinet, car window...center of your wife's make-up mirror... Let me know about any adjustments or idea. Will send you a few of them. I can adjust the size no problem so let me know about that. PM me your addreby Palmer - Trading Discussion
AAPL was around 900 this morning. The NFLX and CAT were based on some modifications that I am making per the code. It's way too early in the game to explain anything about that and I don't intend to do any of that in this thread. Gotta give that some more time. If anything comes out of it it would be in a different thread. Same idea as the E method here but only referencing 3 time frames, mighby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Took a few $ from AAPL and NFLper a modification) and watched CAT(per a modification) also and all followed through...all puts. The overall market indices played a major part today. Just working with a few opt contracts (<5) per entry until I get a good feel for things. Earnings season can turn market quick...gotta keep an eye on things...by Palmer - Trading Discussion
Good stuff RT. I was sitting back with the AMZN and AAPL earnings to let them play out then settle. Been looking for a few other tickers to add to the mix that have tight spreads and good liquidity. Added FB and CAT recently.... Cby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: I looked (to lessen your unmantched generosity) but didn't find a clear example. Just looking to reference more than one time frame for an indicator or condition. Say you're looking for strength in the 1hr and 30min time frame before making an entry on the 15min chart. The strength can be defined as: def Cond1 = RSI(14) on the 1hr chart > 50; def Cond2 = RSI(14) on thby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Scraped a little over a c-note on NFLX puts this morning. It was coming back hard so I got out. Was showing + $300 but limit order did not get filled because it was moving back up in a hurry. Other tickers having a hard time finding direction; 30min can't 'decide'. Will take a look this afternoon. Thinking that the markets are waiting on the AAPL earnings..might be choppy for the rest of the day.by Palmer - Trading Discussion
