Just a word on volume: Even though the signs said go, this was a large selling bar after a good run. This told me that the current 3min trend might stall and profit taking could show up. Level 2 was starting to sell off too and the 5min had the 5/10 cross a few bars later.by Palmer - Trading Discussion
RT: What time did you get in/out of the AAPL trade? I'm thinking you got in somewhere between 9:30 and 10 and out around 10:15 per the 5min 5/10cross or might have held longer? I'm not big on trading opening gaps and got in when price was at the top in the am. Need to wait for a pullback first on thise gaps. Took a loss there but made it up on FB with some extra for the day to end up greby Palmer - Trading Discussion
MTUT: Is this based on the E system method using longer multuple timeframes? I've added LNKD and the SPY to the E system. AAPL has earnings on Tuesday I believe and it will be interseting to see how the E system 'reads' it...by Palmer - Trading Discussion
mtut: Yes, I noticed that during the day that sometimes things need to catch up with each other to show as all singals are a 'GO'. I think a lot of it depends on your PC processing speed, data rate, etc. And, I was thinking that the plot remains on the chart only if the bar closes with the signal valid as you stated. Thanks for confirming that. Will be trading this next week and reportby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: You ROCK! You absolutely ROCK!by Palmer - Trading Discussion
Dr. Phil: I agree. The multiple timeframe apporach has always been a good method. However, I was getting some inconsistencies with the plots. In AAPL you see that the 20min chart was green but the watchlist columns was gray In BIDU the 3min chart was gray but the watchlist column was green. All code is the most recent from page 5 of the thread. Not sure why this was happening. And, the dby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Learn by doing.... Been watching the charts(signals) and the colors updating this morning. Was in and out of FB and AAPL twice just trading 3 or 4 ATM contracts for now but all 4 trades were profitable. AMZN gave some very good returns if you were in them. Just a few trading notes....FB gave multiple entries per the 3min vs. AMZN only a few. Volume is critical and I have always payed attenby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Awesome info here. I've been digesting a lot of this and it looks pretty solid. Thanks for all the coding and examples. I traded FOREX back in the day for a few years and referencing multiple time frames was one of the 'steps' I looked for. Still getting all the steps and set-ups down with the most recent code and how to's. Stupid question but....is "Darcy's' thread still around or whereby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Heyyyyyy Robert. This is not the entire idea but I can take what you give back and go from there. Wondering if this is possible: Thinking in terms of going long when: Condtion1: The RSI(14) crosses above 50. Starting from the close of that bar, what was the lowest low value in the next 5 bars? Even better, what was the maximum difference in price from the close of that bar during thby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Thanks!...Will run it in the morning. Does TOS count every minute on the clock from 7:30am to the previous close at 1459 as one bar, count bars where there is only data for, or count bars according to what the actual market trading hours are? If it counts every bar, per the clock, then 730am pre-market to yesterday's close at 1459 (CST) is 990 (or 991) bars back on a 1 minute chart. Just cuby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: I posted this some time ago and now getting back to it. Basically, it is a scan to be done during pre-market hours that compares the current price close during pre-market to the close at 1459 (USA cst) the previous day. It looks for a 3% change to the upside during pre-market; a gap up. I'm missing symbols according to some on-line pre-market gainers and it is also including symbols thby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Thanks my friend....I left out the word 'scan' after is it possible to .... Will do my best to 'take it from here'. Cby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: When do you sleep? I'm digging around and as usual can't find info. Today being Saturday and the markets are closed of course....and if it wasn't raining with a 15-20 gusting wind I'd be out on the flats looking for speckled trout and redfish soooo... Is it possibe to the previous day's 1 minute chart? I wan't to look at yesterdays 1 minute data from the market open through the fby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: Thank you so much! I wrote my own code for TradeStation2000i back in the day, and currently with StockFetcher, some TOS, and along with some HTML and when I was a younger 'geek' tried to teach my self Assembly language when I was about 13 or 14...never got far with that one. I am slowly getting a handle with ThinkScript but those windows of free time seem to get smaller and smaller theby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Hmmm...something still isn't being seen. I'm only using the one condition of: declare lower; def condition4 = if reference Momentum(15) crosses below MomentumSMA(15) then 1 else 0; plot alert = condition4; And this is the result. It's plotting (or the alert is true) when the MomentumSMA is crossing below zero and not the SMA. Is there a cache that might need to be cleared or memory duby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert: Thank you for your reply. And now that I see that, yes, you are correct. The logic I am trying to code is when both the Momentum and its SMA are above the zero line and the Monentum has dipped below the SMA such as i nthis example: The yellow line is the zero line, red line is the SMA and the aqua line is the Momentum. So, you'll see in the left half of the image the Momentum anby Palmer - Trading Discussion
I'm missing something here and it might be because the MomentumSMA is a combined indicator; there is an SMA plot of the Momentum = two plots for the indicator. I'm simply looking for a little strength in the trend with RSI(14) > 49.99 along with the MomentumSMA >0 (momentum and the SMA of the momentum). The pullback is when the Momentum < MomentumSMA but both are still > 0. I added Moby Palmer - Trading Discussion
Robert, thanks for your time with ALLLLLLL of this... I entered and edited the code but the scan produces no results. The only additional filters I am using are stock price between 1 and 10 with a % change of at least 2.5%. Not sure why it's not working...by Palmer - Trading Discussion
I did a search but didn't find anything.... I, like some other people have also, am looking for a pre market scan that simply compares the close of the normal trading day at 3pmCST to whatever the current price is in pre-market hours. I'm simply looking for pre-market movers. I know I can do this on a few websites or within TOS for Pre-Market Movers in the Use The News gadget but I need to appby Palmer - Trading Discussion
