TRADES OF ENCOURAGEMENT

TRADES OF ENCOURAGEMENT
January 08, 2015 11:02PM
I basically trade as a hobby and therefore don't take the market so seriously. My goal as a trader, however, is to eventually be considered a MASTER. While it is my desire to advance on my own abilities, I do derive a great deal of encouragement from hearing of the successes, as well as, failures of others.

As such, I plan to provide a daily update of my trades along with their results, and encourage others to provide the same. Details, as few or as many, will be up to each contributor.

Here is a list of my trades for 2015. Entries in black are real money trades while blue are practice.

I am still in the TSLA trade from 1-6. Looks like it will be a loss.

mtut,

Thanks for posting your trades for January, pretty cool stuff. The KMI entry/exit numbers looked a bit suspect, however ;-).

I think you'll be just fine on TSLA. The technicals are setting up nicely for a run up going into earnings Feb 18, and is further supported by historical trends as well. Keep you the good work!!

Here are my practice trades for January 2015 so far (using OptionsXpress virtual trading platform). I'll try to post additional ones as I have time:

Thanks, for your contribution, Raleigh Trader. I have updated the KMI exit to reflect the correct amount (1.40 rather than 140.0)

Congrats on your successful trades! I think that a trade journal can be an invaluable trading tool and when shared, encourages others in their daily quest.

I, too, use optionxpress for practice but TOS for real trades. There is a big difference in cost of trades between the two so I do not provide a breakdown of exact profit or loss.

I am open to evaluating some of these past trades to see if we can improve upon our techniques. Will see what level of interest there is and adjust accordingly.

No worries, MTUT, happy to continue contributing my trades here for the benefit of others. I use OptionsXpress for real money trades, and switched to their Charles Schwab pricing model, which is a little less expensive than their standard OX pricing. You just have to call them and ask. This is especially beneficial if you are trading large numbers of contracts (e.g., QQQs).

For charting, I continue to use StrategyDesk since it's free and gives me all the technical indicators I need to trade successfully. I only trade Weekly, Daily, and 233 charts, period. My schedule doesn't allow me to trade short charts. I'll continue to post trades here, and agree with you MTUT, happy to evaluate posted trades and share my thoughts and look for improvements.

All the best,
RaleighTrader

Got out of TSLA on the 9th and it is down about 15.00 premarket. Updates from previous printout are highlighted by arrows.

Market is extremely choppy!! Just looking to take a little profit or a little loss.

Dumped my practice trades a couple of days ago. Had not been watching them and missed exit signal. Going forward I will post only real money trades.

Good morning,
I appreciate your postings. Raleigh Trader, I have progressed to really big charts as well. I have fallen in love with this stress free way of trading (well, not totally stress free). I also trade off Weekly, Daily, and 233. Honestly, my trading is 90% science. I am very cautious around Earnings. I am so focused on meeting my goal of retiring by 50, until my time is limited. After trading off big charts, I am confident that I can meet that goal with out pulling my hair. I am bald as a baby's bottom-lol!. I will not make any promises, I will do my best to post my trades as well. I entered FDX on 2/02 and I am still in.

Glade to see rookie30 on board. I have not been trading much the past two weeks while tweking my trading system. I think going forward I will show my signals and describe my thought process as well as the results.
Re: TRADES OF ENCOURAGEMENT

I kinda jumped the trade on FDX. The 55 gave me the little nudge I needed. I normally do not care much about the 55, but I felt really good about the 3:00 candle. I felt strongly that I could get a little pop in the AM. I have watched my mentor get that pop in AM several times. If he does not get the pop, he still has the 233 and Daily pushing from behind, so his trade is still one that will bring about some profit. My mentor uses the Daily, 233, 55/34. He enters off a 34. I have never heard Gary talk about that, but I guess metor picked that up in Advanced Classes or something. mtut, I think you are in good company because I tend to think Raleigh Trader and I trade very similar. I looked at his trades that he posted. I can see each of those trades, and why he entered each one. Good stuff RT. It is good to start learning from some of you who are really good and familiar with BC. I am ok, but nowhere nearly as good as some you guys.

In WSB 1-5 Gary says you could use the 21 minute chart as the action chart for the daily. If you couldn't see the market during the day, then obviously you couldn't use it:-)

I exited my FDX yesterday on the second 233 candle. This stock appeared to be running out of gas. All of my exit indicators signaled- get out. I felt the trade would be short. I got out with a decent profit. On to the next. I am watching AMZN for a possible Put. This is really not the season for puts, so I am a bit skittish, but we will see what it does.

I bought 1 call contract for QCOM around 1:30 today. I usually wait until around 3:45 but was going to be away and unable to take trade.
As you can see, I sold BX put this morning for .30 option gain. Bought BX on Thursday for .91 sold for 1.21

Hope others are making some money during this choppy time

Sold my QCOM call position this morning for almost 100% gain

Re: TRADES OF ENCOURAGEMENT
February 11, 2015 09:51AM
Nice result on QCOM, mtut! QCOM isn't a stock I track, but just looking at the setup, the 233 showed bullish divergence on 1/30 @ 1:23, with both Daily and 233 below my DE line. My DE trigger would have gotten me in @ 1:23 on 2/2 for a pretty good move up. I may have to add this stock to my list :-).

Just curious what the entry point was on 2/9 for QCOM?
Re: TRADES OF ENCOURAGEMENT
February 11, 2015 10:21AM
I am not currently using any of Gary's indicators or setups so my signals are from my own design with some help from Robert. I try to enter around 3:45 (closing price) based on this signal and look to be out the first hour next trading day. So, in this trade, my entry point was based on nothing more than I wanted to get in but would not be able to access the market due to being on the road. Here is the last three months of QCOM with my signals highlighted.

Screenshot was cut off here is rest of chart

I bought 2 calls on PM yesterday per my signals. I hope to show folks that it is possible to extract some small profits during choppy market conditions. I trade 1 or 2 contracts but .30 - .50 option gain is good regardless of what you trade.

Sold for .30 profit around 9:45 today. Stock is still going up.

In my circle, folks are moaning about the market having no direction. Up triple digits today, down triple digits tomorrow. Personally, I like the wild swings. He is an update of my trades for this week. The top row I traded stocks and today (3/27) I bought options. The expected column is the anticipated stock price that I will exit each trade.

The signals I am generating are from the daily chart and I look to be in trade from one to several days. I have started trying to hold trades for a bigger profit and not just look to get .30 or .50 cent on an option so I have developed an exit based on price. It is a tough transition.

Market was up BIG today and almost all of my trades made progress towards my target. DLPH, IP, and SPY hit the expected price and were closed out. FFIV and AMZN are close. Only LNKD went against me.

I entered NFLX long this evening

Current positions less NFLX

AMZN reached the expected price of 377.03 and was sold. ADBE and QCOM continued higher and all others backed up on this 200 points down day
