Ok, earnings is upon us for the two plays, so I'm closing them out. There are no triggers available today. So there is nothing to do but see what happens with FOMC... Very quick update today. My options are almost complete unchanged from last report. I am going to hold them until tomorrow when I must sell because of earnings. No new trends have triggered for me.by funkho - Trading Discussion
Updating late today. But still while the market is actionable. Nothing to do. Positions are moving nicely. Nothing has to be exited yet. Will have to exit next week, but not until the 29th. MA - Apr '15 70c @5.75 Now: 6.60 Target for this option is the 77 area. CME - Mar '15 80c @3.45 Now: 4.10 Target for this option is the 84 area. Doing my update a little early today. I am going to change how I do this just a little bit. I have two choices in dealing with virtual. Either I stay away from stocks with tremendous spreads, or I can use the "mark" (split the difference) as my paper entry. For the time being, I'm going to use MARK instead of ask in terms of ENTRY, but I will use BID in terms of exit. We'll see hby funkho - Trading Discussion
NC, You're probably right about my expectation being wrong because I am so far out in time.. I'm not selling naked yet, so I don't have access to some of the strategies you're talking about. I do enjoy hearing the idea though... I'm going to start updating right at around 11AM so that my moves can be actionable when I do my review. MA is still up 17% and really not changing, so I'm goingby funkho - Trading Discussion
I'll point out that I'm buying only 150 days of expiration in CME. That's cutting it close, but the next expiration is 250 days out. I decided to come into 150, but I won't go below 150... I'd rather go higher, but I think 150 days should be enough.by funkho - Trading Discussion
I was unable to fill into AAPL today. There was very little deflation in the options (surprising despite almost no movement post earnings). I decided not to chase the play. MA update. Very nice move today for MA. I am up 18% in that position now. I will start to seriously consider selling this when MA makes it to 77. As it stands, I'm going to put in a mental stop for this position up 10by funkho - Trading Discussion
My purchase for MA fired and ended the day down 1.7%. No real movement. I have placed an order for AAPL since it triggered today, and earnings is done. I suspect the options will deflate pretty dramatically after earnings, so I have low balled my purchase order for tomorrow. Looking for the AAPL Apr '15 100 call for 6.50 I also had a trigger in SBUX, but SBUX has earnings in 10 days, andby funkho - Trading Discussion
So, to resume, I'm going to reset my practice account back to $10,000... From here out, I will buy at least 180 days of expiration. I settled on 180 days of expiration because that's right at around 6 months. I have a purchase order in for MA - Apr '15 70 call at 5.80 and I will check on it again tomorrow.by funkho - Trading Discussion
I haven't posted in a while because I made a change in how I'm going to do this. I found that I am going to need a lot more time til expiration if I'm going to do this. I had some profit in CME before this recent sell off came. But I found that I couldn't catch the trades on the way down. I am going to reset everything and alter the practice so that I'm running at least 200 days of expiratiby funkho - Trading Discussion
I opened and closed MA yesterday all in the same day. This makes me think that I'm in too close on the option. I shouldn't see a 16% swing inside of a single day. I didn't close CME, however, and it rebounded with the rest of the market today. I am back up in CME by 6%. I see that AAPL triggered today, so I am placing a buy order for it. I'm going to stick with 100 days of expiration forby funkho - Trading Discussion
CME position is now up 10% at Mark 3.65... Plenty of room to move up. I don't see any reason to do anything about it. Will hang onto it. Had triggers on GOOG, MA, and V today. I wish I could play GOOG, but the options would put me way over my 2k trade size. So I'm going to go into MA based on the technical entry and the recent split... I have a buy order in for tomorrow. Given these are the RTT forums, I'm going to start a thread on something I am testing out. I am testing trading RTT entries as they come along for each of my basket of stocks. I have a basket of only 27 of RTT's full list, but I am going to attempt to walk through each trade as things go along. I am not doing this on an intraday thought process. I am reviewing a little during the day, butby funkho - Trading Discussion

I found this on twitter the other day, and it was amazingly inspiring. Seeing as how I am still suck in stage 2, it's good to know a break through is somewhere around the corner... File is a PDF. Worth the read to all those who think it can't be done (at least read to stage 2). It's tempting to just make RTT my only "edge".by funkho - Trading Discussion

I ruled out LNKD because of the possible divergence on the 21m. Looks like it blew right through that. I think possible divergences might be what's keeping me out of too many trades. After I posted this, I went back and scanned again. I found AMZN, and now I see LNKD... Man, I looked at LNKD earlier, but I ruled it out for some reason. Cool, I just couldn't find anything for a few days, and that seemed unusual to me... Starting to see them again now...by funkho - Trading Discussion
When I first started scanning, it seemed that I could find what I thought to be a Darcy trade pretty much daily. I have been refining down a lot, so I figure I would find less trades. However, the past 4-5 trading days, I haven't find a single one that even looked close. I'm wondering if other people who are practicing Darcy's method are still finding stuff or if the market isn't showing tby funkho - Trading Discussion
Hmm, I also see in this post: That you're saying you enter when the 10 x 20 on the smaller chart. Would you say that pullback doesn't matter as long as the 10x20?by funkho - Trading Discussion
Robert, I want to express my thanks again for the work that you've done with TOS. I love what you've put together!by funkho - Trading Discussion
Here is an example of what I'm seeing. I have a few extra EMA's on my chart, sorry if it looks like a lot of clutter. I have annotated with blue arrows for everything I am looking at. I have my chart set this way so I can cycle through my basket and find plays like this. I would like to have entered this pretty early on, but there was no pullback on it, so I stayed out.by funkho - Trading Discussion
Darcy, I have a quick question... Do you incorporate pullbacks into your play at all? For example, you get the E Sig on the 21m chart. Do you wait for a pullback on the 5m chart? A number of the plays that you have listed don't seem to have you entering on a pullback or after a pullback. Just wondering if you could elaborate on how pullbacks factor into your trade. Darcy, I must be missing some magic somewhere. After a string of success, I have been plagued with losses. Here is the checklist I am running before I enter an intraday trade. FatPitch or better on at least two charts. 55m 24m 21m E signal on the 10m chart. Spread less than 20 cent Pullback to at least 5M EMA and then bouncing away from it No really close support/resistanceby funkho - Trading Discussion
I should note that having a single loss on 7 trades is not me complaining. I would prefer a perfect record, but I am no where near 8 years into trading. This morning, I popped into GOOGL for a small profit. I bailed out about 5 minutes before it yielded real profit. I had other things I need to get working on, so I took 10%. 20% showed up about 5 minutes later. Oh well.by funkho - Trading Discussion
I will echo what others have said regarding their appreciation for your postings, Darcy... Big thanks for all your efforts to help us understand. I think I understand what you're doing, and I'm currently 5:1 with it. I jumped the trade on NFLX this morning and it never quite gave me a win. It was my first loss. I was 5:0 until today. I added MoneyFlowIndex to my TOS set up after reading some things Darcy2 wrote about it. I was also incredibly inspired by Big Chart Trader when he mentioned that he doesn't know when the Fed speaks... I had been chasing small chart trades and not having much success with it. I'm still getting my feet under me on big charts, but I am so much more comfortable with this kind of trading. I reallby funkho - Trading Discussion
Like others have said on here, I wouldn't sweat folks dogging your entry. When I posted a thread about losses, I got that kind of response, which isn't what I was looking for. I don't know if you took GW classes or not. Most people here seem to have. TOS charts are free as long as you fund an account, you get real time quotes. I've been using TOS charts for about 2 years now after switching from qCharts... I've been very happy with it. They are pretty good with their live chat support also. I use the OSX client almost exclusively, but I have run it on Windows for a short time as well. I didn't see any real difference.
