All, I'm looking for opinions on your favorite back testing platform. Anyone have some recommendations? Thanks, -Funkby funkho - Trading Discussion
I don't have another trigger today. And seeing as how AKAM has rocket'd up to its previous high, I'm going to go ahead and take the profit in this one. AKAM 3 x Nov 72.50C @ 6.15 = 1,845 Stop 5.25 Limit: 8.00 Sold 4/20 @ 7.00 = 2,100 +255 Account Total: $10,531by funkho - Trading Discussion
No update yesterday. I was stopped out of CREE before the end of the day. And there were no new triggers, so I did not post. Accounting for the CREE loss, and entering AKAM on the signal. CREE 5 x Sep 35P @ 3.60 = 1,800 Stop: 3.05 Limit: 4.70 Sold 4/15 @ 3.05 = 1,525 -275 AKAM 3 x Nov 72.50C @ 6.15 = 1,845 Stop 5.25 Limit: 8.00 Account Total: $10,276by funkho - Trading Discussion
Got a trigger on CREE puts, so I"m going into that. My AAPL has stopped out on time, so I'm closing it today. AAPL 2 x Oct 130C @ 8.00 = 1,600 Stop : 7.20 Limit: 10.50 Sold 4/15 @7.70 = 1,540 -60 CREE 5 x Sep 35P @ 3.60 = 1,800 Stop: 3.05 Limit: 4.70 Account Total: $10,551by funkho - Trading Discussion
V Stopped out yesterday. I didn't get a chance to move my stop up either, so it's a 10% loss. I had been avoiding updates during market closed hours, but I am finding that I can't get to a computer some days. Had I moved up my stop on that, I would be taking a much more manageable loss on V. It's in-line, but I would have liked better. I am getting no triggers on RTT. None since 4/10.. Tby funkho - Trading Discussion
Wishing I would have picked CAT back up now. Heh. Oh well. Looking over the list, I am going to pop into AAPL today. It's under an earnings trend, and it has room to move. V is just sitting, so I'll just move my stop up and hang on tight... V 4 x Sep 65C @ 4.30 = 1,720 Stop: 3.90 Limit: 5.50 Now: 4.25 AAPL 2 x Oct 130C @ 8.00 = 1,600 Stop : 6.80 Limit: 10.50by funkho - Trading Discussion
Sorry my updates have been erratic. I haven't done anything except for getting stopped out of CAT yesterday. I am tempted to get back into CAT because it showed up again (noted in earlier posts). But I don't want to add more than one a day. And today, I'm going to be adding V on a recent trigger. CAT stopped out and then moved back up again. Going to move on to the next position. I believe my posts are going to come in out of order. I forgot to hit submit on my post from yesterday. I did not have time to review at all today. I am going to wait for yesterday's post to get approved. I believe it goes into a queue when I hit submit after being idle for a long session. Sorry about the confusion. I did not get to do anything today, but I would like to pick up some in Cby funkho - Trading Discussion
Got punched in the face by BIDU today... I made an amateur mistake and put a day order in for my stops instead of a GTC. I opened it this morning to see that it was down a ton, and I was not stopped out. I closed it as soon as I could, but I am going to take more of a loss than I would like. On the flip side, the gap might have sold just as badly. I'll not know... I sold 14.00 when I wantedby funkho - Trading Discussion
Going back a day to work on the BIDU trigger that came up. Going to add that one today. My DECK finally moved swiftly in my direction, so I'm going to move the stop up dramatically on that one. That'll put it in 10% profit for sure. The CAT play is moving nicely, so it will remain in front of the stop, but I will continue to move it up. And finally, I'm adding BIDU today... DECK 2 x Sep 7by funkho - Trading Discussion
Sorry for no update yesterday. DECK is powering in my direction, but the price on my option is not moving at all. The spread has widened to 2.00 on my option, but no movement yet. I'm going to keep moving the stop up on it, but I expect it will update the price soon and be a lot higher than it is listing at now (DECK is up 2% today, way over where I bought this option). In addition, we haby funkho - Trading Discussion
Wrote up the numbers on DECK. I am being more aggressive about moving stops up, so I am moving my stop from the 7.40 up to 7.75. I will continue to move the stop up 5% every day the trade is open. I am hoping this will eliminate trades that linger until they stop out. DECK is up a little today, so we'll see if it can stay ahead of my stop raising... No new triggers. So there is nothing elby funkho - Trading Discussion
Well, another day with no signals. As such, I am reviewing the existing trends that have already triggered. I decided to pick up DECK calls. I will have to do the accounting a little later. DECK Sep 70C for 8.65 Will write out the rest later...by funkho - Trading Discussion

It's hard to say that specifically, because the approach has been adjusted over the months. When I started, I wasn't running stops, so there were several 40% losses. But at the end of the day, yes. You can say thatby funkho - Trading Discussion
Wow. Two more big whiffs... CLF went my way right after I bought it, and then aggressively sold off back down to my stop. AAPL sold yesterday towards the afternoon also. I'm not dying, but I'm not happy either.. I have to find a way to improve on it, so I have a couple of thoughts. First, I have not been aggressively selling on an RTT sell signal. AAPL was showing a sell signal in RTTby funkho - Trading Discussion
Well, WMT punched me in the face real quick. I'm out already today at my stop of 3.15 this morning. AAPL still manages to hang in there. I got another trigger on CLF today. I'm a little nervous about it because of how fast it moves these days. I saw it make an 8% move the other day. I am going to pick it up, but I'm going to buy more time than I normally would, because of the swings.by funkho - Trading Discussion
Ahh, well. CAT kicked me out this morning on the dip. Sold me at 4.40, on the gap. I'd like to point out that the CAT trade probably could have been much more of a profit had I been a little more precise in what I wanted out of it. These days, I have been sort of blanket setting 30% up and leaving it alone, but I picked up CAT on a dip, and I could have set my profits to pull out once it hiby funkho - Trading Discussion
Glad to see you hit on LVS. I'm guessing a FP on the 4hr is what put you in... Personally, I always like to hear about how people handled their losing trades. But I'm glad you made some money. Again, this thread is supposed to be acting on the idea of SOLELY using RTT. So my entry is as simple as seeing which ones showed up today. Speaking of which... I got a trigger today on WYNN, and I'm going to pass for two reasons. One, I'm already in two plays. Two, it's expiration Friday. I don't want to be holding 3 positions through expiration Friday... I'm just going to sit on what I have and keep a spot open for next week. Both plays are doing ok. They opened up nicely this morning, but have given back today... They are still both up, so I'mby funkho - Trading Discussion
Filled out of my LVS limit this morning. AAPL is up and doing fine. Got a new trigger on CAT today, so I'm picking that up. My LVS is treading water. It's a little up today, so there's nothing to do here. I got a trigger on AAPL, so I'm picking that up. LVS 6 x Sep 55C @ 3.35 = 2,010 Stop: 2.85 Limit: 4.40 Now: 3.35 AAPL 2 x Oct 130C @ 8.95 = 1,790 Stop: 7.60 Limit: 11.65by funkho - Trading Discussion
Got a trigger today on LVS. Looks like a DIV is coming, but no other news. Going to open it up. LVS 6 x Sep 55C @ 3.35 = 2,010 Stop: 2.85 Limit: 4.40by funkho - Trading Discussion
Just a quick update that I did look over RTT and I got nothing new today.. As such, I'm waiting in the wings...by funkho - Trading Discussion
I just got the in-app notification about the issue with TOS. I did get some triggers today, but they are either too expensive (CMG) or they are really small trends (1-week). Since I'm in nothing, I'm going to pass on today's triggers and see what next week brings...by funkho - Trading Discussion
Got stopped out of AKAM yesterday. So I'm pulling that one.. No triggers at all on RTT right now for the stocks I track. Surprised at the dead spot. But I'll give it some time. AKAM 4 x Aug 67.50P @ 4.50 = 1,800 Stop: 4.10 Limit: 5.90 Sold 3/11 @ 4.10 = 1,640 -160 I am going to look at adding a few more stocks to my list... Well, TOS has done something odd where it won't fill my order, even if I put it in at market. So I am manually tracking this AKAM play. Turns out, there is another trend for AKAM from 3/16 going up... So I'm going to move my stop up on this to ensure I bail out quick. Less faith in the play if we're looking for an up move coming soon. AKAM 4 x Aug 67.50P @ 4.50 = 1,800 Stop: 4.10 Lby funkho - Trading Discussion
Got a trigger today on AKAM, but the trend date is already over for it. I'm going to go ahead and pick it up according to my "buy whatever triggers" philosophy. Just looking to manage my way out of it if I need to. AKAM 4 x Aug 67.50P @ 4.50 = 1,800 Stop: 3.80 Limit: 5.90by funkho - Trading Discussion
Short update today. Sorry for missing Friday, but the only thing that happened was that my stop fired on HAS. HAS 4 x Jul 60C @ 4.25 = 1,700 Stop: 3.60 Limit: 5.50 Sold 3/6 @ 3.60 = 1,440 -260 There are no new triggers on RTT today either. The only thing I would discuss is that CLF fell off a cliff (pun), and I missed out on it because I didn't play the down. That would emphasizeby funkho - Trading Discussion
RTT breaks it into 1 week, 2 week, and 4 week trends. I tend to look for the longer trends. Thinking the longer the better. But you could limit to just 4 week trends. I'm getting pounded in HAS today, and no other triggers have fired.. There aren't many trends on the list right now. I'm just hanging in on HAS since it hasn't reached the stop. Looking for another trigger. HAS 4 x Julby funkho - Trading Discussion
Another option for similar results is to utilize the MovAvgExpRibbon study in TOS. You can set it to the first EMA you want, then set the number of increments and how much to increment by. It gives a nice little colorization effect as well. You would still use the numbers presented by Robert...by funkho - Trading Discussion
