Because NVDA rises as it does it is the perfect stock to play calls and puts on HOWEVER because it is expensive I look for a stock that rides along with NVDA. So today I was riding AMD. At 9:36 I bought 4 175.00 call contracts for 8.10 and sold at @ 10:31 for 11.70. Will it go higher(?)...after a pullback maybe but I am happy with my profit and I am done for the day. Some of you can't hear talking pro's during the day so thought I'd share what pro's have said. Jonathan Hoenig is a former trader and is currently a hedge fund manager. He is often seen on CNBC and currently more often on Fox Business. This morning (1/26/24) he spoke about what is holding this market and making it go up. Yes, TECH which makes up 30% of the SPY. Love using moving averages. Had to wait this morning on MU for my candle to cross the moving average on my 8 chart. While waiting my neighbor came and dug me out (driveway, using his tractor) because of snow and ice. Living on the side of a mountain has advantages and disadvantages! While I was outside talking to my neighbor, my candle crossed my moving average going down on my 8 chart. When I cby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Bought 10 ROKU 107.00 PUTS at 10:28 for 1.85 and just sold at 11:39 for 3.90 using moving averages. I could see using the 55, 34, 21, 13, 8,5,3, and 1 the trade was down although the stock was up. I love to do my trades this way...looking for a stock that has popped up and is setting up for a pull back OR one that has crashed down and is setting up for an up. It makes the CALLS and PUTS cheapby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Today Dec 5, 2023 I looked over my charts to see if I could find a trade. I planned on doing a PUT because at first the NASDAQ was down then quickly it turned. My brain was saying that there would be a good PUT to be placed I just needed to find it even though the NASDAQ turned. Looking over my charts starting with the 5 and moving to the 8 giving a glance to the 55 I found my trade. AMZN! Thby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Was listening to Charles Payne (Nov 10, 23) and he had on a guest, Morgan Housel. This author has hit the nail on the head. I am not sure if this was the book he was taking about but listening to him he made some VALUABLE points for all of us. Some of you have stated you have tried to trade as GW instructed and have had NO LUCK. You are frustrated and ready to throw in the towel. This autby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
When SNOW bounced off the 20 moving average on the 8 chart I jumped in. It was 146.51 and just sold @ 148.12. Those who use the 5 and 10 moving average it is very clear to see on a 13 and very, very clear on the 21. I can see a pull back and as all of you know pull backs can wipe out a profit quickly. The thing that bothered me about the 21 chart was the placement of the 50 and 200 moving averageby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Kars: "But when I read Darcy's comments (for example), I don't get the vibe that she's living her life with Jim Cramer as her personal soundtrack." No, I do not live my life with anyone but Jesus as my personal soundtrack. I followed what GW taught in 1-5 for years. I failed horribly. I pulled out the CD's and listened over and over until I could almost quote them word for word. Iby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
RichieRick In 1-5 you can use simple call and puts to reach retirement. Even with a larger chart you can still do calls and puts using moving averages. Go back and look how often candles bounce off the 20 moving average or bounce away from the 20 moving average. Use the 20 moving average as a support or resistance. When watching the Najarian brothers I can learn how to do more tradesby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Kars: I have not taken any classes after 1-5 and Advanced and I do not intend to do so. I took GW at his word when he said he was finished taking my money in 1-5. My S/O wanted to take Advanced not me. Advanced class needs too much money to work. I don’t like adding more work to achieve a result I can achieve with little work. To me that is like washing my kitchen floor every day. I decby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
RichieRick, You know what I do if I were you? I'd go back to 1-5 and use that for trading and PRACTICE Advance and RTP off the same trade I did 1-5. Mark the larger chart where you got in on 1-5. Perhaps that may be what will show you when to get out. It is hard to remember that THIS IS YOUR MONEY you are trading with not GW's. Anyway that's what I would try. MDtrader693 Okay just a little while ago I traded NVDA DOWN off the 5 minute chart. It fell below the 20 moving average which is the one I use for support or resistance. I sold it BEFORE that long wick appeared. That long wick is a HUGE signal that people are leaving this stock. Look at that wick on all charts at about 3:20! Buyers began to dump NVDA because they couldn't stand the pain. Sby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
RichieRick Does Gary do live trades with you all? I am grateful for 1-5 but when I took the Advanced classes I knew I was done. In order to do any of those trades you would need at least $100,000 in your basket and if I had that much I would NEVER use it in the market not even to buy stocks. I do however practice one of the trades from Advance because it is fun. "Free money Friday"by Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
MDtrader693 No, I do not recommend the courses. If you want to do that it is totally up to you. There is enough free info on Investopedia to help you DESIGN how you trade. I was done paying for information after GW's advanced class. I think (now mind you this is just how I think) you should look first at how you spot a move. What chart stands out most to you when you see that move. Find outby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
No I haven't had a difficult time switching from Qcharts to TOS. Qcharts had somethings I liked better but for the most part TOS has been really good and in some ways I like it better. Something I liked on Qcharts was seeing the volume in numbers not a graph. I watched that on Qcharts when I would enter a trade. I do not use ADX or MACD. PastorP Thank you and no I do not sell anything. I want all to be successful as to how they trade. My method can be used to get into longer trades if that is what others like. I don't think StockTraderman007 has lost enough yet nor do I think StockTraderman007 has studied enough. StockTraderman007 wants to sell something almost all of us already have. Sorry for all the edits but I was trying to write live as the market moves and what I was seeing. I did a PUT because my small charts showed a pull back of over $1. I knew I could grab .50 at least and generally I set a GTC for that using the price scales. This time because I was writing as I was in the trade I wanted to tell what I was seeing. NOW If you want to play it up, for instance say the bigger charts show a trend up looking at the 55 anyway. SEE HOW THE CANDLES ARE RIDING THE BOLLINGER BAND ON THE 55? (time 2:36 on 9/5/23) At the OPEN WAIT until you see the stock pull back to the 20 moving average and look to see the direction of the trade on the 5 and 8. I sincerely hope I have made this clear. I have gone back and edited as I read through this post because I tried to convey how I was doing each step along the trade I did today. I really don't like trading after the market has been closed for more than over the weekend. Readings usually are off but to help you see what I look at...META today was a PUT for a FAST trade. Grateful...Thank you for giving me rock star status. That was so nice to hear. I use GW's settings but I only use Money Flow on my small charts and Stoch RSI on the larger ones. Too much "stuff" simply is too much "stuff". I have switched over from Qcharts which I dearly loved to TorS which I like even better. I felt sure you were half heartedly joking. I have no doubt that GW is successful in trading and in selling how he trades. I would say he earned quite a bit in teaching how he sees the market. Learning to trade is first learning there are so many methods and one will eventually suit how you trade. As far as GW getting how he trades off someone else truthfully we all glean a little here and aby Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
flsupraguy...I don't think StockTraderman007 and I should Colab. I agree with RichieRick. I seriously doubt StockTraderman007 that RichieRick is jealous. That certainly is no way to win or influence people. You owe him a sincere apology. Comments like that will get you ignored.by Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
Might I add if you look at the 8 chart for NVDA today Sept 1, 2023 the trade was down. Why? DEATH CROSS. Yep, I did.by Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
StockTraderman007. "Interesting friend, NVDA went (UP) on the 55-minute chart today on the fat pitch indicators and you played (PUTS). The daily chart was going up for NVDA too. Bought 3 482.5 PUTS NVDA today for 17.65. Went up too far and too fast just sold for 21.90. Sold because of 50 moving average on 55 chart. Thinking it may bounce around for a while. Never wrong taking a profit.by Darcy3 - Trading Discussion
