Looking for a great stock scanner
April 24, 2017 05:15PM
Hi, I need your help in finding a great stock scanner.
I trade with Fidelity, but their scanner stinks. I’m not looking for a complicated scanner, all I want is the scanner to start Pre-Market (6:30 am NY) real-time data. Where I can set my own volume and price. I like to trade between $1.00 and $6.00.
I did try a few....ether they are too expensive or too complicated.
Thank You,
bob

Just download ThinkorSwim and open a live account with TDAmeritrade. You don't have to fund the account.
I'm a Fidelity customer also.
There is a learning curve with ThinkorSwim, so be patient, it is worth it.
Here are the scan parameters I use for premarket:
Stock Filter 1: Stocks trading between $1 and $12
Stock Filter 2: Volume of at least 2,500 shares
Study Filter 1: Average 50 Daily Volume of 5,000 shares
I sort it by highest volume(stock filter 2).
This basically gets all the stocks you need premarket(at least the low priced ones).
Hope this helps.

Great to hear. I'm glad I was able to help.
Here is a scan I use to trade after the market has been open 30 minutes or more.
Stock Filter 1: Stocks trading between $20 and $70
Stock Filter 2: 50 Day Average Volume of at least 1,500,000 shares
Custom Filter 1: 14 Day Average ATR of $1.00 or more
This scan usually gets me 100-130 stocks.
My go to play is looking for stocks in this list that have at least 3 consecutive 15 minute red candle from the open.. I then look for a counter trend reversal for a quick scalp.
I also keep an eye on stocks that are moving up at the open. I usually will not take these until 30 minutes after open. Again I look for a quick continuation scalp.
Hope this helps.
