TradeStation Earnings date

Thanks to Big Money's past chart picture, I noticed a RadarScreen indicator for next Earnings date posting.

I implemented it on my screen. Great resource.

Go to TradeStation Community Forum; search "radar earnings release"; choose the author "theguru". Follow his download directions from the first posting that was updated this January. Don't login to your charts until its ready prompt to import.

Thanks Chunk! Now that I have basics out of the way adding earnings and setting up my backup are next on my list. I stumbled across the community thread from "theguru" a week or two ago. It sounded like users were having problems with the original code and data source but the most recent fix in Jan appears to have resolved the issue. Glad to know it works. What surprised me is the overwhelming desire by users to have this functionality within the platform yet is has never been added. I was kind or surprised until I read another post suggesting that with over 100K active users any update they deem important can take years to implement due to a backlog of enhancement requests. It is good to know that TS has a community or users and specialists that are willing to help each other build and troubleshoot code the way Robert helps the TOS folks in this forum.

Now what I would like to see is further expansion of global tracking. They have a basic shell or starting point to build an awesome market replay / on demand feature for back testing the hard right edge. That is the only area I see so far where TOS has a real advantage. No biggie. Besides TS definitely kicks QCharts butt. No comparison!!

I agree TS is outstanding. They seem to keep improving; must be a challenge. Good support on the forum.

Splits date would be great; that forum search was unsuccessful.

Just a quick question....Did you have to install the visual c++ redistributable package and if so do you do the x86? That's what I did but I can't get this to work. Just making sure I did the first step right....I have a 64 bit computer. thanks

I do not recall the steps taken to add the earnings code. All I remember doing is following the instructions step-by-step exactly as described. I remember something about an x86 step knowing that I have 64 bit and briefly questioned myself but I did everything as instructed and it worked. That said my dates stopped updating a few weeks ago. Now getting a small red "E" denoting some type of error. This was around the time I originally installed 9.5. Not sure if the two are related. All of my stocks are past earnings for now so this has been moved down my priority list but should revisit over the next two weeks. I will let you know if I am successful with fixing. I may have to reinstall.

On a side note there are several individuals including the developer on the TS thread that are quite helpful. You may reach out and see if anyone else is having issues. In late June my earnings stopped updating that apparently was an unknown event. I posted a message about the error and within a couple of days many others spoke up as well. The developer was not aware there was a problem but had a fix out there within 3 to 4 days of my initial posting. The only reason I have not posted this time is that I have not finished troubleshooting to rule out whether or not the update to 9.5 caused the issue.

Mine ceased to function as well. I checked TheGuru on the TS forum, and he did seem to post an update. I decided to not bother (in case it slowed my system).

I returned to going through my account with OptionsXpress for whatever stock I need to check.

Thanks ya'll. I will leave it be for now and just keep checking on think or swim for earnings. It's worked fine in the past.

Shannon,

I resolved my problem with the earnings indicator and have an answer to your original question.

1. I have a 64 bit operating system but followed the installation steps exactly as described and by downloading the x86 visual c++ redistributable package. The instructions suggest the provided dll will not work without the aforementioned x86 package so that is what I loaded.

2. My problem since mid to late August was that my antivirus removed and quarantined the npearnings dll. I guess Norton assumed it was a threat as the dll is designed to screen scrape a 3rd party website and pull the data back into TS. I am not sure why this started after working before but at least I know. My earnings dates are populating again now that I have instructed Norton to ignore the dll. Coloring is based on user preference. I believe the code defaults to green and white.

One final caveat. I use this indicator as a reminder to be cognizant of an upcoming announcement. Once I am within 10 days or so I will verify the date with another source. The source used by theguru is pretty accurate but I did find 2 discrepancies back in July that were off by 7 days (a week after the actual release).
